Multi-color print with more than 1 extruders - OctoPrint error?
Hi all,
when I send a gcode file from PrusaSlicer to OctoPrint it shows an error that the number of extruders defined in the OctoPrint profile is 1, whereas in the gcode file there are e.g. 2 extruders defined.
Of course I increases the number of extruders in the OctoPrint profile used to 2 as well, but OctoPrint (even after a restart) does not recognize that.
How to solve that error in OctoPrint?
Does OctoPrint support manual color change at all?
Thanks for helping!
RE: Multi-color print with more than 1 extruders - OctoPrint error?
If I understand correctly, you want to print multicolor with single color printer by manual chaning the filaments. In that case you should use M600 command in the GCODE instead of chaning the extruders. So in fact you should have a valid one extruder gcode, just M600 commands in places for change of color.
There is a thread where it is described in detail how to change print profile, so that it can genarate for you such a gcode similar way, what it does for MMU.

Lots of good info in the post https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-user-mods-octoprint-enclosures-nozzles-.../simple-way-to-print-in-real-multi-color-without-mmu-or-layer-height-based-changes/
Edit. Sorry I reread your post, I've never tried with OctoPrint but I assume if you use the colour change logic in PrusaSlicer you don't need virtual extruders, so set extruders = 1 in both.
RE: Multi-color print with more than 1 extruders - OctoPrint error?
This is about an Octoprint error when I do a multi-colir print on m Mini with manual filament change.
OctoPrint tells me that there a mismatch between the number of extruders defined in the OctoPrint profile, and the number of extruders in the gcode file I sent to OctoPrint via my network.
Does no one else have this error?
Do you all carry an USB stick to your Mini?
RE: Multi-color print with more than 1 extruders - OctoPrint error?
We understand that you see the problem in Octoprint and for this I do not know the solution. But if you do not have a multi color printer (and you do not have), you should not generate gcode containing instructions for multiple extruders. So maybe instead of solving issue with Octoprinit, you could correct your gcode to include one extruder only.
Towlerg found for you the post, which describes how to modify PrusaSlicer profil, so the generated codes allows to print multicolor by manual filament changes. Even that this method works perfectly, it generates correct gcode for one extruder only. So you will have no issues with Octoprint.

Set everything to 1 extruder. Specify the color change layer in Prusa Slicer. Start printing. Wait for printer telling you to insert next color, resume, profit.
