Filament not extruding after a few layers

have a mini + for a week,  printed fine for a few prints then keeps filament jamming and no printing done.

Do you have to use Prusa only filament, not happy if thats the case

Have you tried adjusting the pressure on the extruder idler screw?

Pictures of a failed print and of the end of the filament after extracting the jam would help us help you...

Cheerio,

This is a typical problem, its like not pushing through hotend chewing up pla, this is esun pla + used this for a year on other printers fine,

i have checked bowden tubes and tried differant temps, still trying now as for idler screw tried a few settings ie tighter, slacker no joy yet, but will keep trying

Not sure what we're looking at in that picture.

In any case, of course you can print pretty much any brand on the Mini. I've printed Prusament, Overture, eSun, TTYT3D, 3D Solutech, Sunlu, Amazonbasics, Protopasta metal and wood, etc etc., PETG, PLA, ABS.

The stock extruder though is finicky and I found I had to adjust it many times, until I switched to the Bondtech dual drive extruder.

What I see on that photo is.. extruder is trying hard to push filament, but it fails now and then -you can probably hear clicks from extruder when that happens. I assume, it's because there's a jam inside heatbreak or nozzle temperature is a bit too low for particular filament (which again causes jam).

Solution (by assuming your nozzle temperature is set correct for particular filament): Take hotend apart, check & clean inside of heatbreak, check length of PTFE tube inside heatbreak and check & clean the nozzle.
If that solves your trouble for few prints only, then consider to replace original heatbreak with Bondtech heatbreak (see video).

Chewed in two places....

As I understand it this is repeating?  If so there may be baked-in debris to shift, a cold pull is in order I fear.

this is esun pla + used this for a year on other printers

If this is old stock it would be worth drying in case it's moist enough that mini steam explosions are breaking the extrusion.

I don't use that particular brand, it may need some individual settings, ask around.  In the meanwhile check function with the filament that came with the machine.

@diem

Hi, i have many printers and thought i would try Prusa, not very good experience up to now spent many hours trying to resolve

changed nozzle checked tubes etc all fine, load filament and looks fine for a few layers then jams again so i unload filament, i have tried different temps and filament still no good, looks like a upgrade is needed for this machine, not great for new machine though
