Filament stuck in the top of the nextruder.

I have removed the nozzle out of the extruder, and the filament is still stuck in the top of the extruder. I’m not able to pull the filament out of the top of it somehow it’s stuck inside.

Just wanted to toss out a quick thanks to the people helping around the forum.

There are a lot of questions that come through here. Some are easy. Some are weird. Some start with “my printer is possessed and I need an exorcist".

Which... fair. We have all had those days. Honestly, I do not miss looking at 101 photos of first layers before full auto bed leveling.

But when people jump in, ask a few good questions, point someone to the right article, share a setting, or just help calm things down a bit, that makes a difference and really makes this community a helpful place for one another.

That is the normal forum activity I would like to see more of.

If someone helped you, toss them a thanks.
If you figured something out, please come back and post what fixed it.
If you see a new user stuck, help them get started.
If you have a project going, post it. Weird projects are allowed. Sometimes preferred. (anime, mech, comic book, cosplay, themed set ups would certainly NOT be the preferred posts ((joke)) ) 🙂

This place works better when it is not just problems, but fixes, ideas, prints, and people helping people.

So, thanks to everyone jumping in and helping where they can. It really does matter and makes this a better place.

Menu toggle switches.

If you toggle something to on all the toggle switches look the same with the button either on the left or the right. Am I right in assuming if the button is on the left it is on and if it is on the right it is off?

Brief update on the forums

Hello all.

To try and keep users updated here, as mentioned before there has been work towards updating the forums on the back end of things and I figured to give you an update.

The work continues on it as far as working with different internal teams, seeing what can work and what can not, what stays and what might need to be retired. One thing to keep in mind that this forum is fairly on the large size when you consider the forums offer 6 different languages and sections in the forums going all the way back to the MK1 series of printers and a few other topics.

We have had multiple meetings and sit downs as far as what can be done, what to use, and submitted various feedback that the community has provided previously.

I dont want to say which software will be used just in case I say we are going to use platform A, and then something might arise and we have to change it to a different platform and then just confuse myself along with the community :)

This is a high priority internally, and while I hate giving this answer as it would drive myself crazy, as far as when the changes go into effect, the only answer is "soon". Why? Because there are multiple things that have to fall into place and play nice with one another. The forum will play a major part in that for the backbone of a few different related projects, so it has to be done in a way to make sure everything works together well enough.

I know there is little new info here, but I wanted to write and let the users know that the forum update program is still active, still being worked on and has not been forgotten :)

Door Handle Keeps Falling Off

I have the Core 1 Plus and it has a long orange metal handle for opening the front door. It looks like it is held on by two strips of glued sponge-like material. The long orange handle no longer stays adhered to the front door. It looks like the are small holes that might let me carefully screw the handle onto the door, but wanted to check here to see if there is a better solution.

Top layer coming out bumpy while getting constant "filament clogged" message

Hello,

Recently purchased a MK4S second-hand with the a Ruby .4mm nozzle.

Trying to print a basic gridfinity bin (4x2) but every time it gets to the top layer of the bottom of the bin, I will get a constant "filment clogged" message and I noticed that the layers are all messed up as seen below.
Trying to figure out what it may be.
Printing with the stock Overture PLA profile, stock.2mm Structural settings as well as stock "Original Prusa MK4S 0.4 nozzle" setting.
15% infill.

Already took apart the nextruder and couldn't find anything wrong with the gears, and it can print a benchy fine. Just seems to get hung up with these larger flat surfaces?

Intermittent first layer under-extrusion in specific area of the print bed

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a strange first layer issue on my Prusa MK4S and I'm running out of ideas.

Printer Setup

Prusa MK4S Original Prusa High Flow (HF) 0.4 mm nozzle
Original Nextruder
Prusament PETG
Nozzle temperature: 243 °C
First layer speed: 40 mm/s
First layer width: 0.45 mm
Volumetric speed limit: 20 mm³/s
Textured PEI sheet

The Problem

I'm getting visible under-extrusion on the first layer. The strange part is that it doesn't happen everywhere and often appears in roughly the same area of the print.

The first layer lines are present but there are many small gaps where not enough material seems to be extruded.

I stopped the print directly after the first layer to inspect it more closely. (First Layer Height is 0,2). Picture shows the side facing the print bed (turned around for photo).

Observations

The issue occurs with multiple filament brands, not just one spool.
The issue is not present on every print but occurs quite frequently.
The affected area is often located in a similar region of the bed.
The rest of the first layer looks good.
Adhesion is generally fine.
Higher layers usually print without obvious problems.
The printer is fully calibrated and passes self-tests.
What I've Considered Partial nozzle clog Extruder gear slipping Filament feed resistance Load cell / bed leveling issue Local bed flatness problem
However, since the issue appears only sometimes, I'm unsure whether this is a mechanical extrusion problem or a first layer compensation / load cell related issue.
Same print is perfect on another MK4S

Troubleshooting Already Performed

To rule out common causes, I've already tried the following:

Checked the extruder gears for filament debris and buildup → no visible filament dust or debris.
Performed the load cell test → passes without issues.
Tested multiple filament spools (including different materials) → issue remains.
Tested different nozzle temperatures → no significant improvement.
Thoroughly cleaned the print sheet with dish soap and warm water.
Also cleaned the sheet with 99% isopropyl alcohol.
Tried a different textured PEI sheet → same behavior.
Removed the print sheet and checked the heated bed for debris or contamination underneath → nothing found.
Verified that the filament spool rotates freely and is not snagging.
Printer passes self-test and calibration routines.

Questions

Does this look more like under-extrusion or an incorrect nozzle-to-bed distance?
Has anyone seen similar behavior on a MK4/MK4S with the HF nozzle?
Could this be related to load cell probing or bed mesh compensation?
Would you recommend replacing the HF nozzle with a standard 0.4 mm nozzle as a diagnostic step?

Any ideas or troubleshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Prusa Core One+: The front display of the printer stays dark

The printer and the display have been working for 5 months now, so it cannot be a mounting or assembly error. I have already disassembled the display and temporarily unplugged and re‑plugged the ribbon cable. I did this on both sides — the XLCD board and the XBuddy board. No effect, the display remains black. On the back of the XLCD board, a green LED is lit, so the power supply seems to be working. The printer also appears to boot based on the sounds it makes. The internal lighting turns on after booting. But the front display stays dark. What can I do?

Core One won't print second layer correctly

Hi all,
our Core One always prints the second layer in a spaghettified manner. I dont know what's the reason. I already changed the nozzle as well as the hot end. Calibrations all were perfect. No settings were changed neither in the printer, nor in the project file. I'll attach a picture to show the problem rather to explain it. Any solution to this would highly appreciated.

Není hladká první vrstva

dobrý den ve spolek,

mám potíže s jednou MK3. První vrstva vypadá jako spálená (viz fotky). Nerovnosti dosahují 0,5 až 1,0 mm a následující vrstvy to už nespraví. Mám podezření na některý z termistorů (který tedy vyměnit jako první) nebo kde jinde hledat chybu. Stejný projekt jsem zkoušel i najiných MK3 i MK4 se stejným filamentem i podložkou. A všechno bylo OK. Jen ta jedna tiskárna zlobí.
