That kind of assumes 11 is an upgrade to 10. Vista and 8 certainly weren't, not even that convinced that 10 over 7 was either. I know there's some new stuff in 10 (and I suspect in 11), it's just that it just happens to be things that I don't use.
Nothing like windows 10
With windows 11 Pro and up you can switch your computer up many different ways like a Gaming computer or 3D printing computer or an office computer and it goes on so you have many computer in one with Microsoft Teams you can call any other person via web or there cell phone (Microsoft said) for free and there are a lot more capabilities That I can go and on and on But you will see it for your self Oct. 5 start the free download if your computer meet the requirement. there is a work around for the TMP-chip
No flames please

I don't want to start a flame war and we're all entitled to our opinion but don't see anything in that list that I can't do with Win7 or possibly even XP.
Moving to a Win 11 computer
The new OS is always a pain as a new computer means you have to install all of your programs again. Never goes smoothly. Would love to be able to upgrade and not have to do this. I, for now, am happy to stay with win 10 pro until I have to buy a new computer and do the painful program installs. Looks like 2025 at present. I haven't found a omputer "expert" that knows how to work around this.
...don't see anything in that list that I can't do with Win7 or possibly even XP.
-agree. I was on Win7 till 2019(!), but then decided to upgrade PC and that required Win10 for new hardware to work. Win7 and WinXP were probably the best MS OS's at their launch ever (I still remember what a crap Win10 was at launch).
Anyway, I created "lite" Win10 ISO (v19041.508) and it serves me very well since then (no updates, of course). I think I will skip Win11 as I see no benefit of using it. And it was hard enough to remove telemetry, auto-update and other junk from Win10 -I'm not interested to start all over again with Win11.
Just sharing my thoughts... back to FreeCAD 😊

I still have to keep 1 machine with Windows 7 on it (that I was going to replace) as windows 10 just doesn't work with one of my USB chip programmers. It doesn't even detect a usb device has been plugged in. Windows 7 has zero problems with it, doesn't even need a driver.
I'm in no rush
I as well I keep two Win7 machines, one desktop and one laptop (for similar reasons). win 10 is rock solid for me as well, and I wont be upgrading soon. in fact, in light of the price of computer parts (moneys not the problem, they are just over inflated) I may be waiting awhile, as well I've learned over the years that microsoft loves to let it's paying users fix their product, yet has a problem with open source. So i'll wait for the willing to fix it.
My 20 year old circular saw still cuts as good as the one my son bought me last year, thinking I needed a new one.

Windows 11
I just wanted others to know that Prusa Slicer program would work for those who would want to up grade to Windows 11,I've been a Beta tester for Microsoft since XP which I think was the best OS. I build my computers myself which I have 8 and 4 laptops one with Windows 3.1 on it . I am not trying to be some wise guy, I will always try to help so I am sorry for any misunderstanding. I was trying to give you a heads up because Windows 11 is nothing like the past OS and because I'm subcontractor for the U.S. government with security clearance, There are certain thing I can't say. Please for me if did something wrong. I Love Prusa Printers which I have one and waiting for Black Friday to Buy another. And this Forum I enjoy immensely. take care and be safe
It's Not a competition
@locktec
please don't misunderstand, this not A problem, literally folks here are voicing their opinion, yours is valuable as well, no one is casting aspersions, we are all open to learning and listening to others opinions, and we appreciate the information your providing. however we view it as an open subject for discussion. not a closed one sided topic, that's all, it's not an argument.
I would bet you many of us could sit down in a room together and disagree on how something should be done, or whats good or bad, and still leaving enjoying each other for the most part.
please don't be discouraged, folks here are used to communicating in this way, it's not Reddit.

@Locktec "Please for me if did something wrong". Don't be daft, as I said in OP every ones entitled to their opinion and this cool board with lots of room for discussion.
@Carl A "I haven't found a omputer "expert" that knows how to work around this." I guess you could clone your existing system drive to the new hardware then do a upgrade to Win 11. Not as clean as a new install, nor I suspect will it work for all programs (doesn't matter about drivers probably you only need a small subset to upgrade. Perhaps you might view it as stopgap till you get round to creating a new image containing a fresh OS install and all your apps.
@Neophyl "doesn't even need a driver" which probably means it's custom (aka vendor) HID. Might be worth looking for Win 10 issues in that area. Also maybe a funny USB chip set or USB 2/3 compatibility.
Old Windows and printers
I keep an XP laptop because later windows do not support my 42" printer. Sometimes the plan is to make stuff obsolete by non support so you have to buy new "stuff".
🤑
It's called "Planed obsolescence" and all the big companies do it, Apple is notorious for this, they (The Big money Companies) make so much $$$ doing this that it's not going to stop.

And the great thing about planned obsolescence is that a whole stack of perfectly good computers become obsolete ... and are available for peanuts ... for those of us who use other operating systems.
As a rough guide, a ten year old PC with a fast Linux and no frills will, for most tasks, outperform the latest model burdened by whichever is the latest Windows release.
Cheerio,
I've gone to Linux (mostly Ubuntu, some Suse) for most machines, but my wife does have a Win 8 machine that she knows and likes, and I have one Win 7 desktop that has difficult-to-upgrade items on it and one laptop and one netbook with Win 10.
On the Win 10 machines I was careful to set them up without Microsoft accounts, but I'm sure they have phoned home many times with as much information about us as can be gathered.
