Why can't I use filament profiles between MK3S and the XL?

I finally pulled the trigger on my pre-ordered XL and am ready to get printing with it. However, my extensive library of filaments that I used on my MK3S does not show up when I am slicing with the XL. Why would they be incompatible with the XL? Shouldn't it be irrelevant to the printer I am using?

No.  Stock Prusa filament profiles contain things like linear advance settings.  Or the new ones for the M572 gcode.   Those will be different for different printers.
This is why the stock ones are locked down to the specific printers.

You can always detach any profile from the system vendor preset and modify the compatible printers conditions if you want them to show up for all your printers and then save them as custom.  Be aware though of those printer specific settings if you do so.
These settings are Advanced/Expert level so if you modify then you need to know the consequences of doing so.

Interesting, I didn't realize that much was tied to the filament profiles but it makes sense. I'll just have to start recreating them for the XL then.
