Weird or expected behavior different sized first layer
Hello everyone,
While slicing some random part recently I encountered something kinda strange. The first layer seems to be smaller in x/y size than the following layers. That is, the perimeters following the first layer stick out just a little bit if you view it in the slicer. It happens with the most basic shapes so if this is expected why is this even happening? What are the advantages/disadvantages?
Thanks in advance

Normal behavior. It's called elephant's foot compensation. You can adjust it in print settings. The way the first layer is put down often results in a bit of squish, so the dimensions are slightly pushed out in xy directions, leading to a small bulge, the elephant's foot. Elephant's foot compensation, well, compensates for it.

Ah thank you. I couldn't find the setting for it before, but now I see.
