Using Filament Settings .ini Files For Non-Prusa Printer?

I have spent far too much time this summer trying to get 3DFuel's PCTG filament to print well on my MakerGear M2E printer.   I started with PrusaSlicer, but eventually switched to Simplify3D because the initial results were a little more promising.  I now have that working moderately well, but I'd like to be able to use some of the features like tree supports and scarf joints in PrusaSlicer.

3DFuel now has .ini files available for their PCTG, tuned up to work with the Prusa MK4S, Core One and XL printers.

Two questions:

  1. If I don't have a Prusa printer, is there a way I can load the settings in the 3DFuel PCTG profiles?  The .ini file appears to be just a text file, so I suppose I can go through it line by line...
  2. The MakerGear M2E is an old printer with a direct drive extruder.  I haven't had time to re-compile the Marlin firmware to the latest version to get linear advance.  I'm guessing all the Prusa printers are new enough that they all have that feature.  I want to use a profile for the simplest, bog-standard printer I can that doesn't rely on too many fancy features in the printer.  Any suggestions on which profile to start with? (assuming there is an answer for question #1).  I'm guessing the MK4S is my best bet.

Thanks!
