Use different filament settings
Hi,
Is there a way to use different filament settings in the same print?
ex:
start to layer 10 : 220°C retract 0.4 speed 60
after filament changing
layer 10 to the end :195°C retract 0.6 speed 40
RE: Use different filament settings
Look for information on help.prusa3d.com or the prusa youtube channel on using modifiers in PrusaSlicer.

RE: Use different filament settings
i didn't find retract or temp with modifiers
RE: Use different filament settings
Hmm - neither could I.
To make the change manually, open the gcode file in a good text editor (I use Notepad++) and find the layer where you want the change, add the gcode for the changes into the file in the 'After layer change' section.
M109 S195 ; set nozzle temp to 195 and wait to reach it before continuing
M207 S0.6 ; set retraction to 0.6mm
M220 S40 ; set speed to 40%

RE: Use different filament settings
I was hoping an easy way, like with modifiers ...
But thanks for the answer
RE: Use different filament settings
This thread is a tad old, but I have a suggestion in case someone else looks for a solution to this: Do a "manual multi-material" print.
You need to change these settings in Advanced or Expert mode
- 'Printer settings' > 'General': Set the number of extruders to '2' or more.
- 'Printer settings' > 'Custom G-code' > 'Tool Change G-code': 'M600'.
- 'Print settings' > 'Multiple Extruders' > 'Wipe Tower': uncheck the box
- Add a 'Height range Modifier' and set 'Start at height', 'Stop at height' and 'Layer height'. [not sure if this was added in the 2.3 beta]
- 'Add Settings' to this modifier and choose 'Extruders'. Select all three: 'Infill extruder', 'Perimeter extruder' and 'Solid infill extruder' (unless you want to change just one of them).
- Select the 2nd extruder for each of them.
- Set up the 'Filament Settings' for each extruder.
- Slice your model and print.
It will do a filament change in the beginning, no matter if you already have the correct filament in the extruder. For every filament change, do not pull the waste material off the extruder immediately. It will slowly extrude some more while moving back to resume the print. Pull it off, when it reached that position.
At least I am hoping that this will work. I just started a two color print with two different PLA filaments where a normal "color change" does not work, because they need different temperatures. This way I was able to assign each of the "virtual" extruders its own filament preset.
RE: Use different filament settings
Another way to do it without setting up different extruders IF you only need a limited amount of different settings is to Add custom gcode at a layer instead of adding colour change. When it opens up the box allowing you to add your own gcode you add the colour change command for your printer then you also add in the new temperature the filament needs along with any other different settings.
