Trying to understand retractions in the gcode

Using v2.4.2 on my RToolchanger and playing with the paint on colors I get weird blobs at random and on the seam. So I look into the gcode to see if the retractions are correct... but wait! I don't see retractions! So I set the printer to an Ender 3 do a test cube, single extruder... I see retractions, but the retraction lengths are varying and they don't match the setting. ???

Using other slicers I can easily see my retractions. I have them set to say... 1.75 length, then in the gcode I see the G1 E-1.75... No problem. PS... I don't see this. Instead I see what may be retractions but different values. Is this because PS is changing the retraction length to meet a variable extrusion volume or speed???

If so I'm not seeing a negative extrusion where I should be seeing retractions in the gcode for my multiple extruder prints. I'm only seeing positive (unlike the test I did with the printer set to Ender 3) which means I'm not getting retractions when I need them.
