PrusaSlicer 3.x status

Many of you know that we are working on a bigger release (PrusaSlicer 3.0.0), and you are probably eager to get your hands on it. We are sorry to keep you waiting and we admit that the work is taking longer than expected. There is massive amount of technical debt that we need to get rid of to allow future maintenance of the application. We are now fully focused on that, along with developing new features.

We are also sorry that we are not very active in our GitHub issue tracker lately - for the same reason. We plan to get back to it when the new slicer is released and make things right again. We hope that the work we are doing now will allow us to release more frequently in future and get back in touch with our community.

At this stage, we can confidently say that the 3.x groundwork is well in place and most features are ported. We are currently finalizing the UI and bugfixing. The time to release it now counts in weeks (although there may be more than four). The previous time estimates we worked with internally proved not very accurate, so we will rather not be more specific now.

However last night I got a big blob and the app was crickets.... Its obvious that this notification is pretty much useless as it did not flag me during a real issue. What is triggering this message as it appears to be of no actual use but to frustrate people. Anyone else seeing this??

Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could help me with a small issue I’ve noticed on a particular print?

I needed to print four identical PLA parts. They’re being used to locate the bottom of a garden shed frame evenly, with the correct overlap on a concrete foundation, and will only be used once. The defects in the prints don’t affect their function, but I’d like to get to the bottom of it in case I print something in future where quality is more critical.

As for the prints themselves: the first one #3, I printed standing vertically with supports and a brim. This turned out okay. However, since I needed three more, I decided to try a different orientation.

The second one #1, was printed in the orientation shown in the photo, again with the necessary supports and brim. It was in this orientation that I noticed a distinct line in the print, along with a clear layer shift.

Thinking this might be axis-related, I rotated the print 90 degrees (viewed from above) and printed it again. Interestingly, the defect appears in exactly the same place. There are other minor imperfections across the prints, but none as obvious or consistent as the two lines you’ll see in the photo—especially given they occur in almost the same position despite different orientations.

I’ve checked the belts and haven’t had any issues prior to this. I’ve also reviewed the model, and there are definitely no defects in the design itself. The printer is a Core One, only about four months old, and has had relatively low use.

Appreciate any help or insight anyone can offer.
