Supportmaterial

Has anyone made some Changes to to Supportmaterial. Maybe so its much easier to take it off. Some Manual Support get meltet into the Object sometimes and i'm not sure if its possible ti change that.

RE: Supportmaterial

I've had the best luck setting a 0.25mm Z distance. Undersides look poor (as always) but they come off easily.

Print the Triceratops gcode that came with the SD card.  Then try slicing at 150% using default 0.15 mm quality settings.  Use that support as a baseline.   Support for organic curves work fairly well with defaults; support for flat surfaces requires adjustments. Parts with organic curves and flat surfaces are a pain.

There are also some weird things with manual Supports. Seems like Supports always has to touch the Printplate even if i manually set them to a surface 100mm above that

Of course a support must have contact to the build plate.  Otherwise it is building midair, no?

Well i made a Funnel. I wantet to Print it Upside down of course. AT the small End it has a flat ring that needs Support. So the Support only needs to touch the Funnel and and that Ring and not go though the Object down to the Plate. or am i thinking wrong here?

Hard to say -- a picture of the problem would be helpful.

Unless the support has something to start on that is already built from the bed up...  if something is floating in mid air, like that ring, then the support for it - if started 100 m up - will also be floating in mid air.

I hope its visivle to see that the support goes right through the Funnel down to theBottom where it doesnt have to. I tried a support Blocker on the Bottom but that wont work either

RE: Supportmaterial

Next time you post an image, please try to find the LINK TO : MEDIA FILE setting.

Just use normal "Supports everywhere" and the part will print fine.

But- that said, I found an interesting interaction...  once you get the part set up, try changing infill to something else, like 0%, then back to 15%.  See if that affects the support.

Can you also show us the 3D editor view so we can see how you have the support enforcer applied? The enforcer just needs to touch the surface that wants supports, it doesn't need to bridge from the supported surface to the bed.

RE: Supportmaterial

A bit more playing and I suspect your part has a few errors, and that ring is causing issues.  Once I fixed a minor crack in the part, it works without any issues:
