slicing stops at 90% ??

hi there.

would someone be so kind and try to slice the following stl.  It's just a sample of the nasa-fabric. from printable

i'm able to slice it at 4x4 but the 12x16 sample stops at 90% and nothing else happens. Sometimes the slicr software even freezes completely .

I run slice 2.6.1, on a 1 year old macbook air M1 chip, 8GB ram and 180 GB of free space.

i don't want to believe that its not powerful for that.

thanks for your help

What stl ?  theres nothing attached.  There are several nasa fabric models available.

Also the stl is not that useful on its own, more important are the settings you are using.  As such we need a saved project file from PS.  Set it up to slice so you get the issue and then use File>Save Project As.  That will save a 3mf file.  A PS 3mf file contains all the models but also all the settings you are using.  Its a complete snapshot.

The important thing to remember though is to attach anything to the forum you need to zip it up into an archive file first.  Thats probably why your stl didnt attach too.

RE:

It slices for me. It takes quite a while to complete the last 10%, but it does complete. I am slicing on an Intel MacBook Pro from 2017 with PS 2.6.1.

I noted that PrusaSlicer reports that 292 errors were auto-repaired in your model. These seem to be 'degenerate facets'. Not sure if that has any bearing on the slicing time though.

Cheers,

Tim

It sliced on mine too, win 10, although like Tim it took a long time, over 10 minutes.  And I have a rather hefty processor and a lot of ram on my machine.
Repairing the model makes difference in slice time.

switching to my normal printer profile and one of my normal print profiles then at .15 layer height it sliced in about 30 seconds.  Switching the printer to a mk3 based one so the print profile changes to a default  .15 speed profile and slicing, it once again takes a long time. That would suggest that it’s one or more settings in the print profile that is causing it to take a long time.

Try turning off the new dynamic overhangs speed option.  That sped it up to a more 'normal' slicing speed for me.  Print Settings>Speed>Dynamic Overhang Speed> Untick
