Slicer removes part of model
When I go to slice this file, part of the side wall is removed from the model. I have run the file through two different "fixers" with the same problem!
The file is located at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pyzLn4lVMRaNhee7ZO0JE72oTBVcDsIp/view?usp=sharing
I am using version 2.3.0 + Linux + X64 -GTK3
Is this just a Linux problem? All my other slices have come out fine!
Thanks!
RE: Slicer removes part of model
Hi Pete, this is a defective STL,
the right hand side front is too thin and the left hand side front is too thin
Plus the handle right hand side has a part missing
I have tried to recreate these parts from the better parts of the original piece please try the file below

Wow! Thank you for your speedy reply!
I have successfully sliced it and am now printing it. I'll let you know how it works out!
Thanks, again!

@pete-rohrmayer
Cheers Pete,
these are the parts I copied to repair the model

@pete-rohrmayer
Excellent.
Now you need to learn how to fudge STL's yourself,
All of the parts I made were fudged from parts of the original model

@joantabb
What program do you use to make the fudge? I've made brownies, but not fudge! 😉
RE: Slicer removes part of model
Hi Pete, I am a dinosaur... I started using 123D Design, when it was a current software, it has since been superceded by Fusion 360 (there is a free personal use license)
what I did was to copy the originsl part, and paste the copy in the same place, then for the right hand side I copied a section of the back corner where the wall was nice and thick. and I extruded it forward, past the front of the box, then I trimmed the section in line with the top of the handle, to match the slope, and I trimmed the underside from the front of the handle back to the base, to get the slope from the handle down...
I then copy and pasted a copy of the new side, back in position and cut a section off the front edge, than I could move over to the left hand side... and finally I copied and pasted one last copy from which I cut the section of front panel, which I slid to the right, to repair the missing part of the handle.
and when I had finished I added all of the new parts to the remaining copy of the original drawer.
(Note... 123D design didn't want to co-operate with this last act, so I saved the four parts as individual STL's. of the four parts,)
this last addition was completed in Prusa Slicer, where I added the main part of the box, then added the remaining sections as part, which retains the the placement of the components and saves you having to re position the parts... I saved the model as a new STL, so that I could make it available for you...

RE: Slicer removes part of model
Looks like I need to transition from Tinkercad to 360!
Again, I am in your debt!
Now I have another nagging question, which you can't answer! What happened to the three missing parts bin drawers when all the other are in place???
Pete
RE: Slicer removes part of model
when I do this in 123D design, I use the 'Subtract' and 'Intersect commands', to retain the parts of the models that I need to keep the other parts are disassembled into universal 1's and 0's Like Lego Bricks... ready to be used in the Digital world, once again... 🙂
