Setting up a Zmorph Fab as a custom printer.

Hi folks,

I'm trying to set up a zmorph fab as a custom printer. I *think* I've got most of the settings transferred over, but I am stuck when it comes to adding filaments.

The drop down list for new filaments is completely empty and when I try the wizard and select, say Fillamentum PLA, it doesn't get added to the custom printer's list. (I can only see it, if I switch the printer to one of the prusa models).

Any help appreciated, thank you.

Sorry, shouldn't have assumed you were complaining, you should see some of the other posts though lol.  

The search function on the forum, to put it simply, sucks.  We tend to use google search the the site:forum.prusa3d.com limiter to pull results from just the forum.  Tends to work better.

Found this previous one using the google search for example https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/prusaslicer/prusa-2-2-0-does-not-show-filaments-tab-in-configuration-assistant/   has a link to the zip file in it.  Unfortunately the link is dead as it appears Prusa has purged the file.   Grrrr.  

The list is probably a bit out of date given it was done in 2020.  With most filaments though theres not a lot of difference between them, if you compare the majority have the same settings.  Its just a list of known good tweaked (for the mk3 filaments).  If you start with the equivalent generic PLA or Generic petg and then adjust the temps based on manufacturer recommendations then save you often get close enough.  A few prints, to see if those needs adjusting for your particular machine and you end up with a profile that works for your setup.  Don't be wary of making your own.

That’s the way it is. You should have access to generic ones for pla and petg I think even with a custom. 
All the others are pretty much only available to a Prusa. 

You aren’t the first to complain and you won’t be the last. However there’s actually a reason for it and it’s easy enough to make no Prusa specific versions if you know what buttons to push and what bits to delete. 
You see as well as all the other settings in a filament profile the values for linear advance are also stored in them. Those values are printer specific and hence the locking of them to certain vendors, ie Prusa and also to specific machines and nozzle sizes even within that vendor space. For example the mmu versions of the mk3 when installed have less filaments available than a normal mk3. 

First you add a mk3 so you can see and access all the filaments you are interested in. Then in expert mode you have to use the detach from system preset button in the filament profile. Finally you have to delete that pesky linear advance gcode and any other constraints from printer keywords. This ‘sanitizes’ the filament profile. Finally you then have to save it with a custom name. As you can’t save over any of the system presets. You should then have. Profile that is available to any printer on your system. 

Frankly though it’s just quicker and easier to modify the generic ones and give then a new name. Somewhere in this very sub forum on one of the many previous threads relating to this is a zip file with a bunch of them already done that can be imported in using the import config options.

Oh! I wasn't complaining because I didn't know it was intentionally restricted!

ok, Thank You for the great reply Neophyl.
Since I don't even know what linear advance refers to, I'd better try to find that zip file first then.
(I did try to search this issue, but was just getting results for adding filaments to prusa machine profiles)

Ran out of edit time, the zipped list above still has the Linear Advance lines in.  So you need to go to the filament profile and the custom G code section and either remove the M900 K..... line or tweak the values for your printer.

The configs look pretty straight-forward too.

🤣 I can imagine, I've seen the internet!
Sure, I bought a €4000 machine, and it only comes with something 8 preset filaments (4 vendor and 4 generic), and the slicer has never been updated. I'm not even sure the closed loop system is working. What's the use in complaining? Just make the best of what you've got.

I'm going to share my printer config here so far, in case anyone else searching for 'zmorph' in the future.
Future reader: please bear in mind I'm just a beginner and these need improving.
The only print setting and filament included for now is Zmorph PLA+ at 0.16 mm layer height (fine detail).
