RE: PrusaSlicer
@andylgru
Fade height slowly removes bed levelling mesh Z adjustments as the print progresses in height. A fade height of 10 means the printed surface will start out following bed contours on the first layer and by the time 10mm height is reached, all printing will now be dead flat. The Z adjustments "fade" to zero over the fade height.
RE: PrusaSlicer
Has anyone been able to find the part cooling fan setting page? and also the part cooling fan configuration during bridging.
TIA

Have you looked in Filament Settings → Cooling?
RE: PrusaSlicer
Thank you SO much.. I've looked for 3 days.. but missed that!!!
and like magic my problem was solved!!!
thank you!!!

Incidentally, colorprint (online) doesn't recognize gcode from prusaslicer " Unrecognized slicer engine, handled as Kisslicer (application may not work as described!) ".

so if I was unaware of the "pre install save config" then I am S.O.L?

But that capability is built into PrusaSlicer now, so I'm guessing they didn't feel the need to update.

RE: PrusaSlicer 2.0 instalation issue
I downloaded and unzipped PrusaSlicer-2.0.0+win64-201905201652. I got 2 subdirectories and 5 files. No, installation files. However, I did get 2 exe application files: prusa-slicer.exe and prusa-slicer-console.exe.
Which one should I use and why?
Should I remove Slic3r Prusa from my system? TIA
RE: PrusaSlicer
I would like to get more into the PrusaSlicer V2. Is there a manual like the build instruction for i3mk3 or more documentation? I cant find any thing.
Thanks

I found this on the old site if you had not seen it it might help answer some questions.
https://blog.prusaprinters.org/prusaslicer-2-release/
and it talks about transferring your profiles from Slic3rPE as a bonus.
Also, there appears to be a link in the drivers and apps download now for installation like the old Slic3r PE..

RE: PrusaSlicer
also, the comments below the blog post have good info on finding your profiles from Slic3r PE.
the time to edit my post expired so I had to do a second post.

Backups are made, just so long as you don't go deleting them. Let us know what OS you're using for details.

I bet you directly downloaded the zip file from Github. AFAIK that doesn't have an installer. If you want a real installer download the "Drivers & Apps" package from here: https://www.prusa3d.com/drivers/
Before you do so, open Slic3r PE and export a "config bundle" file to somewhere convenient on your computer's filesystem. Then after installing PrusaSlicer (I think the installation will uninstall Slic3r PE if that was installed from an earlier "Drivers & Apps" package) open it, go through the configuration wizard, and then load the config bundle that you had previously saved.

I would very welcome a possibilitye to open a gcode in PrusaSlicer. Sometimes I have couple of gcodes generated, I come back to that model after months and I am not sure which one was the correct one, what is the difference between them. I used Simplify3D to open and check. This could be good function in new PrusaSlicer. I mean no edit or changes, just to see the layers, or movements as I can see in the preview from the generated model. Even a bit reduced is good enough. If the gcode is generated from PrusaSlicer, also the slicing settings could be simply recognized and shown.

RE: PrusaSlicer
Gcode generated from the current and previous versions of Prusa slicer has all the settings at the end of the gcode already. If you open the gcode in a text editor and scroll to the bottom of the listing you will see it all there. It doesnt have the models, modifiers etc though so for those simply save the project as a 3mf file, that way you can easily go back later and adjust things.
RE: PrusaSlicer
I downloaded the new file three times and tried to run it without success. My computer wanted me to select a program to open it so I could not install the new software. Then I realized that the file is not downloading with the .exe entension so I renamed the file by adding the .exe extension and it installed. I haven't tried it yet but it seemed to install and start up correctly. I think the file name needs to be corrected for downloading to include the .exe extension.
RE: PrusaSlicer
I downloaded from the Prusa site (I think). In any case I removed evewrthing I did and went back, downloaded this time got an exe file, not a zip file. So I ran that. It was an install file.
Now all is well 🙂

RE: PrusaSlicer
Not sure where you got your file from, but when I go to the Prusa download page and you click on the 2.2.6 version there is still no .exe at the end of the file name, whereas for example, you click on the 2.2.5 file it shows with the .exe extension. I don't think it is corrected yet. To confirm, go here: https://www.prusa3d.com/drivers/#_ga=2.52244073.1300784153.1559097613-1330662472.1559097613
then click on the older versions list near the bottom of the "Drivers and Apps 2.2.6" section and you will also see the 2.2.5.exe version for download. Clicking on the 2.2.5 shows the .exe as part of the file name whereas clicking on the 2.2.6 does not display a .exe extension so I don't think it is corrected as of yet.
RE: PrusaSlicer
I really like the new PrusaSlicer.
The graphics, the arrange functionality, lay flat now showing clickable areas to use... awesome.
The new object tree is brilliant as well! It's obvious to me a lot of thinking went into this and mostly I find it very intuitive to use. Especially with more instances
Confusing there is you get the idea that you can configure each instance separately, but its only the position that is separate. Things like rotation and scale are still shared. 'sweird! I would personally split the position from the other parameters and not show those in the instances (main object is responsible for orientation, scale and modifiers, instances for the position on the plate). There is the "Set as separated object" there that allows you to split and separately transform them if it's needed.
The alternative would be make the configuration separation obvious. If the user transforms an instance, indicate this with a change icon in the tree or something and add options to reverse to the main object state and/or copy/paste settings (but to me that seems a lot more work than the above).
The fact that if y0u assemble an object from parts you can now actually reposition them. I just finished printing Alice from Reddadsteve (who specializes in making brilliant models but still printable on a single color printer) and I combined the eyes and text signs for my MMU because I really didn't want to assemble those tiny parts afterwards. For some reason those positioning boxes were always disabled in Slic3r (but that's probably me haven't found the way to enable them).
The one thing I am missing is being able to add a brim for a single piece. I like to print several pieces at once in one color but some are smaller and require a brim, others really don't. At this point I do 2 prints.
For me personally its a massive improvement and I've liked working with it a lot so far.

This linking only happens if you copy an STL into PrusaSlicer (PS) and increase copies. If you drag in a 2nd copy of the STL, it is completely independent for scaling and surface placement.
