Prusa slicer warns of open edges after cut operation
I am using Prusa Slicer 2.8.1.
I have an object created in Fusion360 that I am able to slice in Prusa Slicer without errors.
However, if I proceed to cut that same object within Prusa Slicer, I then get the notification that:
"Prusa slicer open edges or errors were detected after the cut."
I am able to fix the error, by allowing Prusa Slicer to proceed to invoke the Windows mesh correction tool.
However, if there are no open edges or errors pre-cutting, shouldn't Prusa Slicer be able to cut the object without introducing open edges or other gaps?
So, is this a "bug" with Prusa Slicer or is this expected behavior on some objects.
RE: Prusa slicer warns of open edges after cut operation
Can happen with some objects. Not just in Prusa Slicer too, other software can have the same issue. Often it depends on where the cut happens.
I don’t know what methods they are using but in other stuff I’ve seen the same when a cut passes through verts precisely.
Might still be worth posting the project with details on how to reproduce (model and at what height to cut etc) on the PS GitHub. There might be optimisations and edge cases that could be improved.
