I’m using 3DConnexion space mouse and cad mouse. Within their driver there’s ways to lock axis’. Not a free solution I know, but an option. PrusaSlicer does claim support for 3DConnexion, but I haven’t dabled much with this aspect of the program to verify how well.
I just so happen to own a SpaceMouse and CAD Mouse. I wasn't aware of that feature. I found a brief discussion of the "dominant" feature here. This looks like something that could be adapted to other mouse drivers. Thanks for the tip!

I have a Spacemouse as well but hardly ever use it. On the Mac, it's so hobbled that it's no fun to use. But when I'm back home next week I'll give it a try and see if the lock axis feature even works on the Mac.

I bought mine when starting out with Fusion 360 and having no luck mastering movement with a conventional mouse. No sooner had I installed the drivers than Fusion 360 movement "clicked" with me and now I find it natural, and the SpaceMouse seems cumbersome. I've programmed mine to be a volume controller. An expensive volume controller.

If you go setting>advanced settings you can configure the spacemouse to handle the modeling space (plater) however you like. I hope that's what the question pertained to. It's my pleasure to help you with something for once lol.

The software manufacturer has to be on board with 3dconnexion for it to fully function, so it might not help everywhere. I'm using it primarily for Autocad and Solidworks presently. I find if you take the time to program it to suit your needs, it's very helpful. I haven't even scratched the surface yet with the Macro's and other options it offers. It's certainly not necessary, but I despise having to use the keyboard for anything when modeling. It seems so intrusive to my workflow. It's my pleasure to help you with something for once lol.

Yeah, the default mouse settings didn't really do it for me but I switched to "Tinkercad" settings, which feel more intuitive to me and are more similar to other software such as OpenScad or PrusaSlicer

I tried this setting out. Unfortunately, it only works for the SpaceMouse, not the CADMouse, so isn't exactly what I'm after. However, I think it will help me deal with spinning out of control when I do try using the SpaceMouse. Thanks for the pointer guys!

I have a Mac but I got this to work with the second technique using my standard logitech mouse that has left, right, and mouse-wheel buttons. Thanks, @Swiss_Cheese, I am sure this will be useful.

Just so were clear, It's spring not winter, and has been for several weeks, secondly it's not a trick or a quirk. I'm sorry you use Mac, I once taught a graphics class at a collage with Mac's in the 90's and vowed I would never use them again. this has paid off in droves to this date.

I'm able to use the method @David described in the Knowledge Base thread in his post from last year. It's a slightly different procedure, but works essentially the same as he described for single straight segments:
- Start your painting by clicking the left mouse button at the start point and hold the left mouse button.
- With the left mouse button still held, tap ESC. This will exit seam painting mode. Don't worry, the original point is retained.
- Re-select seam painting mode (use the left button normally to clock the left box).
- Click on the desired 2nd end point on the model. Done correctly, a straight line will be drawn from the point selected in step 2 to the new position.
Unlike @Swiss_Cheese's method, this only seems to work for a single straight segment, at least in my quick testing. Not quite as handy as the Mouse Keys approach for my use, but it seems to work without any prior setup. I have no idea if this would work in any other OS, but it is working reliably on MacOS with PrusaSlicer 2.4.1. The good news is that the inner workings seem to work the same across platforms, so the odds of this being a straightforward feature addition are good.

I got this to work in both Prusaslicer 2.4.0. and 2.4.1. MAC OS 11.2.3. It works in brush sphere or brush circle mode. Press and hold the middle mouse button (scroll wheel button.) Tap left button once. You will get a circle there. Let go of all buttons and move cursor to where you want your line to end. Tap left button. You should get a line from your first circle to where the cursor is now. I am using a cheapo Logitech mouse. At first it was only working some of the time until I figured out I needed to press the scroll wheel button pretty hard to get it to register as a button press.

This works on my MacBook Pro using just the trackpad, thanks bobstro! All I wanted was a nice straight seam in the place of my choosing. Prusaslicer should have a more straightforward method for simply placing seam location.

Would love to hear if we will have the ability to click and drag and release to draw straight seams in Prusa Slicer. The method above gets us close but is quite obscure. 🙂

If you mean something like the control that can be found when snapping lines in Photoshop? I 100% agree. As it stands now PrusaSlicer doesn't support this officially. I agree with the both you & the author, it seems obscure, maybe even awkward at first, but didn't take long at all for this to become second nature to use, I use his method more often then not now.
