Please Help - Switching from Cura

Hi. I am wanting to switch over from Cura but i have hit a wall.

I can not find any way to set the volume of my printer (CR10 S). I have set X and Y but i cant find anywhere to set Z. I am trying to print a tall print but i cant slice because it is outside the print area. The setting must be there somewhere surely.

Another problem I am having is i PrusaSlicer can not find Octoprint. I can connect fine via cura and web interface but not with PursaSlicer, it cant even see it.

Any help would be fantastic and greatly appreciated.

Thanks

RE: Please Help - Switching from Cura

I have attached a zipped up config.ini file that I use on my cr10s.  You should be able to unzip it, and then import it in using File > Import >Import Config.  Once you have imported it if you go to the Printer Tab you should be able to select the new printer profile.  You will need to be in expert mode to see the settings.

However you will probably have to modify the retraction settings under Printer Settings > Extruder 1 to make retraction a bit longer if you are running a stock bowden cr10s.  I've modified mine to be direct drive and got rid of the bowden tube so I can use much less retraction like the i3.  The basic printer setup items like X Y and Z and machine limits are all fine though.

You might want to double check the start up gcode suits you too as that has some extra in there to do a initial purge line up the left side of the bed like an i3 does to make sure the extruder is primed.

I don't use octoprint but there are some octoprint specific settings under Printer Settings > General.  Have you had a look at any of those ?

Hopefully the .ini will be a useful starting point for you and if you have any questions please ask.
