Parts won't be moved upwards, remain at height 0

Hello,

I have modelled parts to be printed on top of each other (with different materials). However when I import them I can't move the one which should be printed on top. If I want to move it upwards, it won't leave the bed and stick to  it. How can I solve this?

If your STLs have been exported with a common coordinate system and the correct height information, you can import them both (all?) simultaneously in PrusaSlicer (multi-select in the 'Open' dialogue) and PrusaSlicer should give you the option to treat them as a multi-part object.

Unfortunately all parts are at height 0. Why doesn't PrusaSlicer accept to move a piece upwards?

I think it's still possible, even if all your parts were designed at zero height.  I did not realise this until just now, but it seems you can still multi-select them when you open them, click 'yes' when PrusaSlicer offers to treat them as a multi-part object, and then manipulate the z-coordinate of each part in the 'Part manipulation' panel.

If you have modelled these parts yourself though, the better way in my opinion would be to manipulate them into the correct relative positions in your 3D modelling software and then export them as STLs in those positions.  PrusaSlicer's 'multi-part object' approach will maintain their relative positions.

There are multiple threads here (and also on the prusa slicer github) about this.

For example (found using google search with Site: limiter) https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/prusaslicer/place-parts-above-the-print-bed/   or https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/prusaslicer/drop-to-bed-cannot-be-deactivated/ or https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/prusaslicer/changing-z-axis-position-of-added-part/ or https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk2-s-multi-material-hardware-firmware-and-software-help/prusaslicer-2-3-0-beta-3-placing-objects-in-the-air/   , well you get the idea, theres lots of them.

Please go read a few and your question will hopefully be answered.  Learn the difference between an Object and a Part along with the rules that the devs have chosen to implement around them.
