only supports no object
Hello,
in way over my head. gonna get there but there is always one more issue. todays kerfuffle...after finally learning how to cut down large objects in meshmixer i imported into prusaslicer and sliced. what appears is just the supports.....no object.
specifically working on a light up C-3PO costume (from the jesse mod). tried to add print file but cant make that work either, so if you know how to do that too let me know . I assume there is bad geometry or something.
Thanks
Scott
RE: only supports no object
Looks like you got excellent transparency there! ie will really let the light shine through...!
Seriously though, I have never seen that before
in expert mode, try opening the print settings advanced option and set "XY Size Compensation" to say 0.3mm and try slicing again
I am guessing that the part thickness is too thin.
if this slices more satisfactorily, you need to investigate the part thickness in the original model.
otherwise, if you can save the Prusa Slicer session (Including the model and support settings) as a Project file (.3mf file)
then zip compress the project file,
then you can attach the zip file to your next post, to help us figure out what the issue is

RE: only supports no object
As Joan says, you need to zip your project for the forum to accept the file type. I can tell from your picture that the purple edging and the dark green object indicate open non manifold edges (the purple) and the dark green is usually an indicator of reversed normals or similar. Sounds like your workflow export from cutting it down in meshmixer needs some work.
RE: only supports no object
Thanks for replying. I had a sense this is the issue I'm just still really getting my feet into the realm of 3D modeling and printing so every small project is a big one
RE: only supports no object
Yes this is exactly the knowledge I am needing? I am cutting in MM to get files to fit print area. In a nutshell using "plane cut". To make sure I get matching cut I save the non discarded part, then command Z to undo, then cut again and save other half. Yep thats what I have been doing.
RE: only supports no object
this is it with 15mm xy compensation
As @neophyl suspected: over 1300 open edges and, effectively, a negative thickness ... Somehow your design has been turned inside out.
Go back to your design software and check the export parameters. This wouldn't matter so much if this were a game asset or part of a movie cgi sequence but for a 3D print it's crucial.
You will have seen a warning triangle next to the part name in the right hand pane and a report at the bottom (scroll down).
If you need help with a particular download provide a url.
Cheerio,
RE: only supports no object
alright used the inspector tool and auto-corrected and this is what came out. looks terrible.
Imma keep plugging on. starter with a big C3PO piece and cutting it down. NO CLUE what I am doing. just gonna have to suffer through it some more.
anyone know of some more detailed tutorials, books, literature of any kind to give me more guidance?
Thanks
Scott
RE: only supports no object
any specifics to look at for export parameters?
In some cases there's an 'Export as' option, or you may need to be in a 3D printing workspace or a Part Design mode. Most free/hobbyist 3D design tools are general purpose and developed to handle movies, game assets, kitchen planning, animations and, incidentally, 3D designs and sculpts. Professional CAD tends to be more straightforward.
If you let us know what you're using I'm sure someone here will know how to set it up.
Cheerio,
RE:
Alright team,
Thanks for dropping in. Resoveled in that my original file was dumb. Meaning for those in the no i was working with the original Jesse C3PO file which I believe was just a mesh object with no dimension. Adding thickness is beyond my current skill. I found a whole new set that is hollowed out and easily manipulated. Just made my first sizing and cuts for printing and expecting no problems.
End of line! -MCP
