Noob trying first print

Hello everyone,

I'm new at this 3d world. I'm using a desktop running Win 10 (not able to upgrade to Win 11 due to hardware limits) and connected an Ender 3 to it via usb cable. I downloaded the Prusa Viewer and Slicer. I'm able to load g-code items into the Viewer and Slicer. When I used the Slicer, I was able to import the potential print item via File/Import.

Then I selected Slice Now, which gave me the Export G-code option.

What steps do I need to take to send this to my Ender 3? I've put in a lot of time reading/watching videos but I'm in a place I need simple do this, do that, done instructions.

My IT world is based around using Windows/Apple software and doing basic printing functions such as sending things to a physical printer, PDF, screen print, etc, where it's all about choosing the printer destination then select Print.

What am I missing here? Thanks.

There are a lot of Ender3 variants so I can't speak for all but the ones I've seen use SD cards.

Cheerio,

You need to follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Save the G-code file to the machine
  • Step 2: Transfer the saved file to the Ender 3 microSD card by copying the file to the root directory of the memory card
  • Step 3: Insert the card and select the uploaded file
  • Step 4: Click Print to start printing
