New Feature Request - Configuration of Intro Line

Hi Prusa!

I have my Prusa i3 MK3S for about a year and I'm very happy with it! Thank you for this amazing 3D Printer.

After several prints and many with PETG, the location outside the print area (where the Intro Line is printed) is getting worn out. So, changing the location of the Intro Line is needed.

But to accomplish this, I don't think changing the "Start G-Code" in Print Settings is a good idea for every user. Only experienced users should change those settings.

To overcome this problem, I would like to recommend a new setting in PrusaSlicer to allow the user to configure how the Intro Line will be printed. Even a setting to change the initial position is already good enough...

RE: New Feature Request - Configuration of Intro Line

All issues and feature requests should be posted over on github for this project at  https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues

This is mainly a user forum and while the some of the devs do pop in from time to time they dont track issues here.  Posts raised on github get tracked.

Given the already large number of high priority issues already I doubt this will get a lot of traction.  They are already buried under the mass of many largely pointless posts.  This would take more work than you think too.
Mainly as there is no function to do this already so it would need writing from scratch, you would need to be able to define allowable areas to move the position around in the gui (which would change depending on your printer anyway) and if you knew enough to define those areas you should know enough to change the values for the prime line.
Given that the prime line start gcode isn't included with custom printers as its part of the printer definitions as part of the start gcode for each printer type, secondly its laughably easy to modify the position already, thirdly why worry about a non printing area of a consumable build plate 'wearing out'.  Whats to wear out ?  Its priming in that area and not used for an actual print so it makes zero difference if that area gets marked up in use.

Just print and don't worry.

Laying down a strip of blue painter's tape or glue stick over the prime line area on the print surface is a simple solution to this problem. You can modify your startup gcode if desired (and I do), but there are simpler solutions that will be more effective than anything that can be done by the printer. Forcing a setting in firmware reduces options for alternative startup routine that would be most and vocally unwelcome.
