Missing geometry after slicing
has anyone encountered this? I pull a model into PrusaSlicer, slice it with all default settings and a facet of the model is missing from the sliced gcode. In this case, a small crescent shaped recess in the bottom of my model (around 15mm in diameter).

There was something wrong with the model. I ran it through the Netfabb service that is available if you right click on the object in PrusaSlicer. After doing this it sliced properly.
I am attaching the fixed file but you can repair it yourself.

Can you zip up the stl file and upload it here so that others may take a look at it? It would be easier to diagnose with the file.

Ah I really should have been able to figure that out for myself! Thanks so much!

Hi @milks
what kind of 3D designer are you using? I had similar troubles with sketchup in the past. When you do a changes in sketchup, it does not stick all "walls" together, so you can get after slicing those anomalies, regardles that on the bed" the model looks consistent.
Since I am with Autodesk Fusion 360, never happened.

@zoltan
It's made with openSCAD which is quite capable of outputting invalid geometry.
This was my first go with Prusa Slicer (I am yet to fit the 'S' upgrade to my MK3 so have been holding off upgrading firmware too). If I load it in slic3er PE it auto-fixes the geometry so isn't a problem; it seems Prusa Slicer doesn't do this.
RE: Missing geometry after slicing
Both will try to repair a model to a certain extent, however Prusa Slicer now uses Nettfabb for model fixing. If running on Windows 10 its supposed to do it automatically for you but if not there's always the option to right click and fix through Netfabb.
As Netfabb is probably the best model fixing method on the net currently if it cant fix it then there's not much hope 🙂
RE: Missing geometry after slicing
I would recommend a more reliable 3D designer, so no repair would be needed. With Fusion 360 I am really happy now at least for technical drawings. I am not sculptor so meshmixer will follow later.
