Is there Z hop
Hi all,
I am new to the forum and new to 3d printing. I have a Ender 3 printer and using the Prusa Slicer (love it). My question is there a setting in Prusa Slicer to set the Z hop? My other slicer software starts with a "C" it has a z-hop to step over gaps in your modal, this is used in 2 color printing. If you print a sign, you print the words in one color and the body of the sign in another. Is there a setting?
RE: Is there Z hop
Don't know about Z hop but printing two colour signs does not need it. See here it's a long thread but well worth reading.
RE: Is there Z hop
Printer settings->Extruder 1->Lift Z is the equivalent in PrusaSlicer.

THANK YOU!!!!
Z Hop override
@james-l-anderson
There are two places in PrusaSlicer that control the Z Hop.
Under the Printer Settings > Etruder 1 > Retraction:
Here you'll see Lift Z: is set to 0.4mm by default, however this is overridden by the filament settings.
Go to Filament Settings > Filament Overrides > Retraction:
Now tick the Lift Z checkbox and set the Z Hop height your require.
Hope this helps?

RE: Is there Z hop
How do you determine how much z hop you need? is it just based on nozzle size?
RE: Is there Z hop
It's mainly based on the filament used, while larger nozzles can benefit from more Z-lift the type of filament has by far the greatest effect. I've never found a hard and fast rule on how much other than to keep it minimal.

Thank you for that answer I was having trouble finding it myself
