How do I get PrusaSlicer to print the entire outer perimeter first?
I'm trying to print a model which has a weak point because of a segment that has a single perimeter. The single perimeter is necessitated by the application of this model and it can't be thicker.
This weak point would actually be strong enough if the entire outer perimeter was printed as a single extrusion, but it seems to be sliced as a separate segment so there isn't a lot of strength there. I've played with a lot of slicing parameters but can't get it to create a single outer perimeter so that piece isn't essentially standing on its own.
Does anyone have any idea if there's a way to convince PrusaSlicer to do this?
This sort of question comes up from time to time and there is not really any correct answer - about all you can do set 'External perimeters first' and draw in the seam where you want the extrusion to start and finish then if that's not enough begin modifying the part design.
To test if the part geometry will, even in theory, permit this take a pencil and attempt to draw the critical outline in a single line; if you have to lift-off so does the extruder.
The segment you show appears to connect two closed volumes - if there is any other connection between them outside your picture then the requirement becomes mathematically impossible...
Cheerio,
