Frequent crashes during STL import in 2.8.0, Windows 64-bit

Am I the only one having this problem? Generally the program just terminates. On one occasion I got this error message:

prusa-slicer: prusa-slicer.exe - Application Error

The instruction at 0x00007FFAE3F311E2 referenced memory at 0x000000001377A48B. The memory could not be read.

I wrote it up, with example files, but not seeing any action yet. This is a serious issue for me -- the program is so unreliable as to be nearly unusable, and I'm looking for an alternate slicer to use in the interim, until this is fixed.

Can something be done about it?

Several ones already open there.  Go add to one of the existing ones.  You don't mention your OS but for example

https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/13162   - Win11
https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/11845 - multiple systems types
https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/13178 - Mac

Yes, one of those is my report. Here's another: Crash when importing this STL file · Issue #12747

That one is from May. Can we get some attention to this problem? It's cramping my style.
