Filament setting in PrusaSlicer for PLA or PETG from other manufacturers

Hi, if using filaments from other manufacturers, is it better to keep at Prusament [PLA/PETG] or choose Generic [PLA/PETG]?

I either use generic or search the web for some profiles that people have already made for that specific brand and type of  filament.

You can also use generic then do some tests and play around with the settings until you get what you are happy with.

Hope this helps 😁

@rebeccaanthony09

Prusa PLA by default is: Extruder Frist Layer: 215, Other layers: 210

Bed: First layer and Other layers: 60

We tried this default setting on an amz3d filament. It printed OK but there are thick visible horizontal lines on the vertical wall surfaces. The base also seem to have elephant foot even we set the raft to 4 layers. Did not have these issues with Prusament filament. How to eliminate these issues?

From the spool info, they recommended 180 to 210 for Extrusion Temperature and 0 to 50 c for build plate temperature. As a test, we changed the default settings and set the extruder and build plate temperatures to 180 and 50 respectively but the print failed at the start (filament did not stick to the build plate).

Have you cleaned your build plate recently?

You might also want to try

205 and 45

(also, I’m really not an expert but have run into this issue myself )

Yes, we clean the build plate at the end of each print job.

I’m not really sure what else you can do...unless you try just generic, or have you already done that?

@peter-c20

I have been using the same amz3d pla for several months with good results. I left the generic profile except I use 70C for the bed.

No issues as long as the bed is clean.

@peter-c20

Just did a amz3d PLA print today and my notes (and default) is 75C now. Although I started at 70C my notes said I increased it to 75C about 6 months ago when I moved to the textured Prusa bed.
