Feature request: XY Location of measured item

I've been loving the measure function lately...  but I found something lacking that (I think) should be pretty easy to impliment.

When you measure a diameter (for instance)  wouldn't it be cool if the XY center of the measured circle showed up in a box.. so if you wanted to add a part/negative volume to change the size of the hole you could place it exactly on the center of the feature...

Measured from which datum?

Easy maybe but this is a bad idea, this function belongs in CAD.  It's far too late in the design flow to do this sort of thing in the slicer and if you do you are going to have a maintenance/reworking nightmare.

This is already possible in PrusaSlicer, and can be done in at least two different ways.

One using a proper copy and paste technique, in conjunction with change type, the other using the Add part, Negative Volume, Modifier, etc,, etc,, and then selecting to proper coordinate system, in the case your talking about that would be the Object coordinate system.

There is a lot to learn before making feature requests.

 - and in rejcting them by the look of it.  Thanks for the heads up.  Never use it.

This is not about design.  This is about taking an stl,  dropping it on your print bed, And wanting to change the diameter of a hole that is not centered in the part.
If when you measured the hole, you got a coardinate for it, you could drop and adjust a modifier on it. It would then be attached in the part and would slide around  with the part as normal.

My work around for this was to measure everything, and remodel the part in Inventor.

I’ll have to explore further apparently.

That is design, fundamental design.

My work around for this was to measure everything, and remodel the part in Inventor.

And easier to do the measuring there too I expect (Autodesk don't support Linux so it's a few years since I used them.)  This is the best way to create parts that can be handled by multiple slicers, tranferred to metal printing software or reworked subtractively.
