Feature request: Translucent modifiers
HI all,
Just a thought. It is currently difficult to align a modifier primitive e.g. a cylinder to an exact position on your model because it obscures the model you are moving it over. If it could be displayed with lower opacity or as a bounding box, aligning modifiers would be much easier.
Painting works well for supports but modifiers for things such as number of perimeters is now trial and error.
Maybe there is something I am missing though.
Regards

Just a recommendation:
Not many of the developers are regulars surfing the forums for suggestions. I would recommend you sign up for an account on GitHub and post it as an enhancement to PrusaSlicer at this location:

I requested basically the same thing back in Feb 2020 https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/3678 and someone else requested it in June https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/4438 so go add your support to those.
RE: Feature request: Translucent modifiers
OK, thanks both. I'll pop over there 🙂

Done. I was just thinking about this last night when I tried to place a support enforcer and couldn't really see how it overlapped the somewhat complex area.
Having said that, for that very reason I have started to use the paint-on tool more and more. Just wish it had a modifier key to draw a straight line. Hey, time to head to Github and request it, I guess....

RE: Feature request: Translucent modifiers
I'm pretty sure Ive seen that request too fuchsr lol. Or at least very similar to it https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/5970
RE: Feature request: Translucent modifiers
Hi all, yes I found two existing requests and just added my voice to them. We will see I guess.
Thanks for the feedback all.
RE: Feature request: Translucent modifiers
I recognize that it could be handy to have this feature in Slicer, for the odd need to place a modifier or enforcer.
however it's easier and faster to do in your 3d program of choice. then just import all of the modifier meshes and support enforcers together with the model, and simply assign the type to them in slicer, in this way you can make more precise placements and much more exacting shapes for them in a fraction of the time, and just use slicer for slicing.

In Photoshop and several other packages this is typically done by clicking on point A. holding the shift key down and then clicking on point B. etc,,
this would be very handy and easily implemented.

Huh, that's actually a GREAT idea. I've used Fusion to add sacrificial supports but I admit I never even considered converting an imported part into a modifier but sure, now that you have said it, it's obvious...

Wow! I never thought of that! Does that really work?

HAving got all excited by this idea I can't see how to convert an object into a modifier
RE: Feature request: Translucent modifiers
Scrap that! I got it. Brilliant idea
