Feature Request for Multicolor printing: Multiple 'Wipe Towers' per Material, with Adjustable Area Size
For multi-color printing, can we get separate wipe towers for each extruder? That way the colors mix less, especially black+white.
Also when I try to change the size of the wipe tower (wipe_tower_width) I can only change the shape of the area, but cannot make the total area smaller, and it's always too big (see attached screenshot). Can we get a way to reduce the area size of the wipe tower?
Using Prusa 2.4.2. It's the best slicer!
cheers! 🙂

Also if there is a way to achieve this with Prusa already, or something I'm missing, please let me know
RE:
You can change the size by changing the purge volumes, the size of the area of the wipe tower is determined by the wipe tower width and the purge volumes of the layer with the highest purge demand. Nothing you can do about that, that's the area that is physically needed to purge. You can however reduce the hight of the tower with the "no sparse layers" option in some cases (depending of the numbers of "no tool change"-layers) but you must ensure the extruder clearance manually (actually you can only eyeball it, as far as I know).
What do you mean by "the colors mix less"? How would separate wipe towers change that? They are literally there for the "mixed" colors to purge...
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Find out why this is pinned in the general section!

Oh yeah, the purge volumes! Forgot about those. They always sneak by me since they are in their own UI area. Thanks, that is solved 🙂
As for separate wipe towers, the nozzle will occasionally hit a blob or string of black while it's purging white, so it would just eliminate that risk of accidental mixing.
