Feature request: Allow "Elephant foot compensation" to affect the first N layers (selectable by user).

I found the elephant foot compensation setting quite useful because my first layer would squish, leading to ruined tolerances. But sometimes the second and third layer also need it. The compensation algorithm also just seems to be generally quite useful to fine tune tolerances, so you could apply it to all your layers to easily improve tolerances of some models.

So an implementation could be that a value of 0 for the "layers affected" setting would result in no compensation, a value of "10" would affect the first ten layers, and a value of "-8" would affect every layer except the last 8.

this would be a request for the Prusa Slicer Github where the developers hang  out,

they rarely wander over to the forum!

I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK

Elephant foot compensation is really a workaround tool when printing critical parts from other's CAD.   If you are designing your own then the proper place for this sort of tolerance correction is the original CAD file.  You presumably know what layer thickness you will be using (or you can make it a variable parameter) so selectively tailoring the first, second and however many other layers need it is completely in your control.

Cheerio,
