Avoid crossing perimeters doesn't seem to be working
Hi, I'm using the latest Prusaslicer 2.4.1 beta 1. When I look at travel moves in g-code preview, it doesn't make a difference whether I turn on "avoid crossing perimeters" setting or not. I tried really large max detour lengths and nothing worked. I remember that it was working a couple of versions ago, but I'm not sure any more. Does anyone has this working as intended in the latest version? or any other version?

Avoid crossing perimeters is working properly. By the time you get to layer 19, 2.9mm you have a total of 5 areas printing based on the shape of your model at that height, by the time your at layer 31, 4.7 mm you have seven separate areas printing, Slicer has no choice based on the geometry of this model but to cross perimeters. by the time your at layer 55, 8.3mm 8 separate areas printing, and this doesn't change until Layer 89, 13.4mm. So you see slicer can't, under any circumstances avoid crossing perimeters any more then it is based on the geometry of the model your trying to print. it's working just as intended, and doing it's best to avoid crossing whenever the geometry allows it to be possible.
If you enable the travel View. and scroll through your sliced file layer by layer you will see this.

P.S. set it to Zero for the best result

for starters Beta 3 is the latest and secondly it's a beta (meaning an Unfinished version) stick with the final release 2.4.0 until you understand what your doing.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I just tried both 2.4.0 and 2.4.1 beta 3 and the results are the same. Toggling avoid crossing perimeter didn't make any difference in these two versions either. Do you have any experience regarding to this setting or noticed any change in behaviour compared to earlier versions?

Please post a Zipped up .3mf project file exported from PrusaSlicer, and I'll take a look and see if I can help. The .3mf file should be setup as you would when trying to print the part and will allow us to see all the settings as they pertain to the model in your project.
Note if you do not Zip the file the forum server will not allow it to be posted.

P.S. I have a great deal of experience with these settings and PrusaSlicer.

Hey, thanks for willing to check this out for me, it's much appreciated. I also attached a screen shot of my preview window so you can see what I have on my computer.

What you said made sense. I guess it does not take in consideration of the entire model, only the current layer it's slicing. That's something I have never thought about. Thank you very much for pointing it out.
