RE: Update...(Kind of)

My first car was a Fiat too. Made me convinced Italians must have an extra joint in their fingers or else how would you be able to reach those well hidden bolts under the engine when you had to do repairs — which I had to do MANY. But it was fun to drive when it was not sitting in the garage broken down. Thinking about it, not different than the MMU2. The MMU3 was more like my next car, a Benz. I guess there's hope then that the INDX will be a Ferrari!

I have to confess... I now think about it again.... As a Czech company, it will be Skoda of course. Which the Germans made from a Car Factory into a Tank Factory

Terrible comparison.  Bambu is more of a Ford Escort with a turbocharger. Definitely not a Cadillac.

I said this before but the reason I started hanging out in these forums was because I had problems with Core One that support couldn't solve. In my case when the printer was crashing due to a grounding problem they kept wanting to send me a new Buddy Board. Turns out that all I needed to do was scrape off a bit a paint behind a screw. I found that answer here in the forums and when I fed that back to support they kept insisted that couldn't possibly be the solution and that I was wrong. With the support person implying: "How can a bunch of random forum users know better than us?"

The other is when I had persistent nozzle cleaning errors and support kept insisting I had wet filament. I'm pretty meticulous about drying filament and found the answers on these forums (PWM from the block heater interfering with the load cell). I felt like I was being gaslighted into thinking (in the later case especially) that it was my problem. Long story short, I have ~900hrs now on the H2D and not once had a problem, it just works. I know that N=1 is not statistically valid but my impression is the BL machines are more solid. Something as simple as swapping out a nozzle takes seconds vs minutes on the C1 where I need to use tools to do it.

It kind of reminded me when my parents bought a Fiat sports car (Prusa) when I was a kid and had issues the dealer couldn't fix so my dad ended up going to the community for help (which wasn't easy back then) and made some friends in the process. Frustrated, my parents bought a Cadillac (Bambu Labs) that had all the bells a whistles (like power everything) with a stand-offish dealer but never had any major issue and was much easier to drive (but maybe not as fun).

So back on topic, the INDX on the Core One. It's my dad's Fiat. No filament feeders, no RFID readers (yet) and a patched up PrusaSlicer and firmware with macros to make it work. If there is a problem with it (and expect there will be), the place I will need to go for help is unfortunately Discord or (fortunately) here.

Ferrari is a terrible and very unreliable car.
Let's hope not!

I would like to see a reliable and solid car there... Toyota Lancruiser V8 TD for the win 😉
Mercedes S 400CDI... Something in that order.
V8 for the Nozzles of course

Funnily, when it comes to cars like my printers I prefer to buy European! But if he thinking VW for Prusa, far from perfect, has some luxuries but all and all is reliable. BYD for Bambu makes the most sense to be honest 😂 as it’s just taken everything western car manufacturers got right and slap a whole load of extras on it. Selling it at a crazily low for price per feature

I guess while we are on car analogies, I own 2 vehicles: a 1971 Volkswagen Kombi (built in Germany) and a 2020 Tesla Model Y (built in California). I love driving both but the Kombi is a stick, can only go 55mph (downhill), has an AM radio, drum brakes and if I get in an accident I will die... The Tesla is great to drive, simple, advanced but I don't like the politics of it's leadership.

So Tesla copied their software from a 55 year old VW?

I think we should stay much more at car brands where you have the innovators and the copycats.
But it is right, the Chinese went from copycats to innovators. Their electric Brands now, put shame on Mercedes, Audi and BMW.
Byd became bigger then Tesla in a short time. Tesla is using the Byd batteries now.
China has the fastest road car and that company exists only 3 years.
They won the road race championships on motorcycles.

It seems that the West became fat and lazy, as the CEO of ASML said about the Dutch and their workforce.
Are we still as eager to win, to go the full mile and more?

I don't know to be honest, but I hope so. And for now, I am very much in love with my Core One L.

You are twisting what I wrote. I'm very aware of the origins of VW, BWM, BASF (IG Farben), etc etc etc. In the case of Tesla, I'm pointing out that there are times when product and company leadership are not in alignment with my beliefs.

RE:

I was just joking, I am sorry, text does not cover it well I think.

But aside from that, I think we in the West should be very very careful not to lose completely from China.
I speak to many people coming there for business and they actually say that we have lost already.

Their logistics, big labor force, one party leadership and long term thinking, is hard to beat.
We in Europe are completely spread and logistics is a nightmare. China has complete cities or city parts only focused on certain technology.

This channel also made me quite aware of that.

I am sorry I derailed this train.  My attempt at sarcasm about the car comparison may have missed the mark.

I really loved my Bambu Printers.  Their closed nature and frequent threats to sue have discolored my view of them.  I will likely switch to Core Ones because I love my three, and they have worked flawlessly.  My general workhorses will likely be the Core Ones and Cenaturi Carbons, depending on what elese if realsed and tested over the next year.  More testing is coming.

RE: Update...(Kind of)

Oh, I'm for sure not getting rid of my Core One (3-6 months ago maybe) but now it still has it's place. It prints TPU way better than the H2D and it's much quicker to get going for smaller prints. And I appreciate Prusa not locking everything (well most things) down except for PrusaConnect which is VERY annoying. But then the H2D can do things even the Core One L can't manage. So I have both.

I'm looking forward to experimenting with multi-color on the INDX. I tried on the H2D and briefly on the H2C (long and funny story) and it just fell flat. Bondtech/Prusa should hit a home-run with the INDX system over their rivals.

Don't worry. Not much else to talk about, really, until the units ship. Which I doubt will be the day they promised.

Can you please tell what not went well with multicolor on the Bambu's?

RE: Update...(Kind of)

I have not had any issues with Bambu and multicolor.  Multimaterial is the only issues I have had.  It caused jams when going from high temp materials to lower temp materials.  I have never had this issue with a Prusa, but I have had jams with a Bambu.

With a traditional AMS setup there was simply too much purge waste and it took too long to print. In most cases the purge waste weighed more than the model. And a 30 hr print on the H2D would theoretically (I simulated in the slicer) take only 3-4 hrs on the INDX and with very little purge waste. The H2C with Vortek system was much better than the H2D but it was still too slow. There wasn't the same purge waste but it still took time to retract the filament back into the AMS and swap out the nozzle on each color change.

I REALLY thing the INDX will do great with multicolor and less purge... I have been very successfully using the purge into object feature in BL (nee Prusa knock-off) slicer... and not purge tower on the H2C. 😉

RE: Update...(Kind of)

Is it June 25th yet? 😘

With regards to issues with MMU3 that others have mentioned, the only problem I have faced so far, is the odd loading issue, where no matter how hard I try to straighten out the last 3 inches of filament, it won't feed into the unit, oh and it randomly feeding an inch or so of filament, that isn't being used and only finding out when it changes tools and it jams 😅

Lately though, it has been behaving.......but of course I have now said it and tempted the filament gods to meddle in my affairs 😅
