RE: Update...(Kind of)

Hopefully the 'issue' is that the founders front panel is crap and needs a re-design 😂

no, I believe the issue that's been discovered is that the Germans won't approve it without transparent aluminum doors for use within Deutschland.

Yes, yes... The front-panel is crap... Can always cancel and wait for the Prusa version.

Glancing through the discord yesterday it was looking like a couple of people noting they planned on cancelling their orders.

I think the majority of those are just noise. Huge difference between rage posting "I'm going to cancel" vs "I've just canceled." I haven't canceled mine although I should have because I don't really need it. I'm in it for the excitement of being first out of the gate and participating in the inevitable group debugging sessions.

Wishful thinking my man. You'll have no orange numbers or visisblilty and be happy about it 😅

Wonder if they saw our posts 😅

I'm cool with the update/apology, at least it's something and fingers crossed a better product comes to us 😊

Yeah I've got no problem with the delay, or the update (or lack thereof)...literally my only gripe is that war crime of a front panel 😂

I mean what with the (new) delay the only reason for them making us buy the better panel is to claw a bit of the loss back that they're making with the founders edition... and that leaves a slightly nasty taste.

You don't release an apology update if its only going to be a few days more...Im expecting at least another 2-4 weeks, and I honestly don't mind if the end result is a better product.

RE:

It's interesting that compared with the last BondTech email that hinted at a release date, this one makes no mention of one (which is what they should have done on the previous email). Anyway, I don't expect it to be shipped until June. If it's early, then cool but not in a hurry. No more multi-color experiments on the H2D though, that thing eats through filament.

Hoping it’s something simple, like poor QC on the SLS case rather than related to the internal mechanisms.

Today's update email says essentially: "We'd rather not tell you what the problem is" and "we don't know when this will be resolved". This suggests a non-trivial issue to me.

Yeah, the H2C is really the way to go for them moment.  it is pretty quick to heat up and once all the nozzles have been flushed there's no more waste. Unfortunately, it seems like they have beat INDX to market rather substantially... Which sort of annoys me but for now it works.

I guess the insurmountable problem with the Vortek system is that it still needs time to retract and purge. I remember reading it takes about 40 seconds per swap whereas INDX is around 12-15 seconds.

Vortex is down to 29sec…. It’s still a bunch of time… maybe a half an hour over a day long print? that said it’s not wasting any filament… with the exception of the prime tower, which so far it seems to be one of those things that just sticks around. granted, you can prime into the void of the print which lowers that necessity to either not required or a much smaller prime tower. I would expect INDX to be very similar; just a lot faster.

I'd like to see the numbers , that half an hour difference seems a bit optimistic for a day long print? of course it all hinges on how many tool changes are in the print...not the duration of the print.

RE: Update...(Kind of)

usually, it's 3-4 colors plus support material.

typically, I'll print with the left head being the most commonly used material, and the other 6 swapping.

yeah, but how many tool changes in total? thats the only way of gauging the time difference.

RE: Update...(Kind of)

I have watched a Vortex print recently and 29s is a low estimate.  They might be underestimating the average time to switch.

For anyone complaining about the front panel on the founders edition, feel free to send your founder's edition kit and a few hundred dollars (the difference in price between founder's edition and release versions of the kits) my way, and I'll send you my non-founders's-edition kit when it arrives.

It's my only complaint, and one I feel is totally fair...

(Well...that and the horror shirt 🤣)

The common misconception that persists that there is a "very significant" price difference between the FE and Prusa's offering frustrates me. The initial shared price for INDX early 2025 was not met even for the FE. When the FE price was announced at Formnext last year it was ex Taxes/Tariffs. However, the new Prusa price includes taxes and Tariffs. It seems to be very common for the people that missed the FE pre-order to take the pre-tax FE price from the new Prusa (tax included). The ex tax difference was only about 137eur in the EU and sub 200usd. Shipping is another story which is geographical. That price difference can be in someway justified by the FE addition having less refined parts. Also that pre-order price was locked in last November, since then Bondtech (who are defining the majority of the cost) have had a better idea of COGM, which seemingly has gone up. Additionally, there has been a huge level of uncertainty introduced by the open ended war that has been started in the middle east which is going to significantly drive inflation in the coming years. That needs to be priced in. Honestly with the stupidity going on globally at the moment I wouldn't be surprised if the price needs to go up further in the next 12 months.

For the original Core One, there were a lot of complaints ahead of the actual shipments about (a) Prusa's lack of transparency regarding the shipping schedule, after already having taken our money, and (b) the plastic rivets they chose to attach the various panels. Once units were out in the field, (b) turned out to be a largely unjustified concern. But there was (c) a generous serving of new, previously unknown issues which early customers had to deal with.

For the INDX Founders Edition, we certainly have (a). I doubt that the "fence" will go the same way as the plastic rivets, with everyone concluding that it's fine after all -- but it will fixable eventually by purchasing the new part from Prusa. But in any case, I fully expect the INDX equivalent of (c), and that is what justifies the reduced price of the Founders Edition.
