I'm assuming @hyiger was thinking about solid (100%) infill, which may be required when you print rocket parts with high mechanical strength requirements?

Edit: But still, I'm wondering whether the filament flow rate (melting rate) wouldn't typically become the limiting factor at nozzle size 0.6 mm and beyond?

Not just 100% infill but regular infill as well. As long as it's above 20%. For smaller parts, sure, tool change overhead will probably negate the speed benefits.

That aside, it's not just because it's faster since volumetic flow can be significantly increased but it improves compression strength and interlayer adhesion (which is important for these parts) since there is more material contact area per layer. Granted that a 1mm nozzle with 0.75m layer height at 40mm/s is roughly 30mm^3/s flow. So the hotend may need to be high-flow unless print speed is reduced (which again negates the speed advantage). However, I've been successfully printing drafts with an .8mm Diamondback and haven't noticed any significant under extrusion. I have yet to experiment with a 1mm nozzle though.

 I'm thinking about 6 x 0.4, 1x 0.6, 1 x 1mm. Im not sure I'm ever going to use 0.2mm

I'm starting to waffle on the 0.2mm as well. I only use it for very niche applications. I don't print much PLA and for really detailed stuff I have a SLA resin printer for that.

Think it might be worthwhile having a 2 x 0.6 since I'm generally print brackets (for telescopes and rockets) using my 0.6 nozzle. A second one would give you multi-material and color with the associated time savings (and better layer adhesion) at the expense of detail.

RE: Update...(Kind of)

Looks like the 4-tool configuration always comes with 4 * 0.4 mm CHT tools, I don't get to choose diameters. 🙁 Looks like I can order extra tools, but the website does not want to show me that page yet.

A week has come and gone (a business week at least) when BondTech said orders will be open. I suspect it will be longer so more time to decide I suppose.

RE:

OK, so they are now taking orders but it will be another month (probably 2-3 months) to actually receive the order:

20th March 2026

Dear INDX Founder,Our website is now open for placing your order for the Founders Edition.We're in the final stretch of production and validation — and we want to give you an honest update on where things stand. We're shifting our shipping timeline approximately 4 weeks. Not because something went wrong — but because we're not willing to ship until we're confident it's right.

But here's what we're doing with the extra time:

Further refining the macro engine and firmware;Expanding the accessory lineup we're going to have available at retail launch;Building out documentation and onboarding guides so your out-of-box experience is as smooth as possible.

To place your order, please make sure you are logged in with the same account you used when making your reservation for the Founders Edition.Please make sure the voucher is used in the cart. Thank you for being part of our community and for joining us on this journey.

Warm regards,The Bondtech Team

I'm assuming there'll be enough stock for the founders edition release, when it's released.  So... waiting a few more hours now to order (when their servers have recovered!) won't make any difference to the four weeks...

Hahahaha. Of course all 1500 founder's edition golden ticket holders are now trying to get on the BondTech website to put in their orders. I guess they didn't learn when it was originally offered and their web services tanks.

Further refining the macro engine and firmware;
Expanding the accessory lineup we're going to have available at retail launch;
Building out documentation and onboarding guides so your out-of-box experience is as smooth as possible.

So, firmware is delayed as expected. The "accessory lineup at retail launch" is irrelevant for the Founders Edition customers, and enhanced documentation falls into the "while we have extra time anyway" category...

RE: Update...(Kind of)

According to folks over at Discord, it seems only the 0.4mm nozzle is available. So if you order the 8 tool setup you 8x 0.4mm nozzles.... 🤔 Not good...

You may find that you don't get a choice unless you order extra tools. As mentioned above, the four-tool version includes four 0.4 mm HF nozzles, no questions asked.

Same with the 8. You only get 0.4mm HF nozzles with that as well

Well thats crap...they've clearly communicated that a selection will be available.
Hopefully it's just something they can fix on the webshop.

I'm going to wait a couple of hours. Anyway, if indeed the 8 tools setup only come with 0.4mm then I'll probably just get the 4 tool setup.
