And maybe the whole "fun fence" episode was just an elaborate ploy to trick people into canceling their discounted preorders so they can ship more units at full price :-)

It was a photo of it on Discord an I seem to remember seeing a glimpse of it in one of the Prusa youtube videos. It's basically a coil and RFID reader board that fits underneath the spool holder. I'll try to find it after work. 

No, haven't you heard?  They've already moved away from OpenID and now are planning on use mini-spectrometers per filament! ;)

I may have missed an update, but may I inquire about the rfid sensors you are mentioning? Was there ever anything mentioned about them?

I would assume so. No word yet on when the RFID readers will be available.

Seems like it’s a protective peel or something. Looks like they’ll be revealing tomorrow based on the discord.

Noting the numbers on the external filament sensor also. I want to mount and feed the filament for the 4 indx tools from the right of my machine as thats the best way for the limited space I have in my office. No issues with the tool heads being on the left or cutting my own lengths of ptfe. Seeing those numbers and that in the founders bom  it lists “INDX PTFE Holder Left“. Are they going to force you to feed the ptfe and mount the external filament sensor for the first 4 on thr left regardless. Hoping it’s an easy mod or the right version is an available print on printables. Don’t want to have to feed a couple meters of ptfe to load from the right

I’d very much expect the filament sensors to be optional, like they are currently on the C1…so you can just disable them from the menu. 
Im looking to feed directly from a shelf above the C1 where my cereal containers are, so I’m more or less in the same boat as you.

Ideally I’d like to have the filament sensors working, but Im confident there’ll be a workaround, or worse case scenario disable filament sensing altogether.

 Prusa and Bondtech are at RMRRF this weekend also.

Should be a good event and a nice change for them. RMRRF has a strict no-harassment policy. 😉
