Replacing an MMU or INDX on additional printer

Hello everyone,

Like many of you here, I’m also in line for the INDX Founders Edition.

I own two C1s. One of the printers has the MMU3 unit installed. The other has a hardened nozzle and an air filter for more demanding filaments (e.g., PC-CF). I primarily use the MMU3 unit for multicolor printing or to occasionally mix PLA and PETG (e.g., as a transition between support and the part).

I’m now considering which setup to choose with INDX. Should I replace the MMU3 and sell it, or mount INDX on the other printer? I’m a bit undecided, as I’m somewhat wary of the larger build volume with the new lid and whether it can be heated sufficiently for more demanding filaments. However, I’d also like to use INDX for true multi-material printing, in which case the filter could be helpful. I’ll probably end up installing the filter on both printers in the near future anyway.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this or if you’ve already asked yourself the same question.

RE: Replacing an MMU or INDX on additional printer

I found I have invested a significant amount of effort into the MMU and also the Nextruder printhead, therefore upgrading my pipe-cleaned and reliable Core One while being my only printer has never been an option. I'm sure the Bondtech folks are working hard to make this happen but it's a huge effort between two companies and the platform doesn't make it any easier so my guess is INDX may take a bit more patience than we all would like.

Personally I may consider the upgrade when my 2nd printer is complete and reliable (stealthchanger).

Discussion on the firmware thread indicates that MMU just got a speed boost, this means I've got even more patience for INDX to mature. For me, the main reason to get rid of the MMU would be TPU capability - important enough for me to get the toolchanger, having similar capabilities on two printers would be nice.
