CORE One L Buddy cam always reports “WiFi connection failed” after reboot
I successfully paired the camera to my WiFi (fairly short SSID, 31-char password with no $). After restarting the camera, it ALWAYS fails to connect to WiFi, and announces “WiFi connection failed”.
The printer is right below the Unifi access point; after pairing, the camera reports 100% signal strength but fails to connect to WiFi after reboot. I have put it outside of the printer chassis - no difference. It runs the latest firmware, 3.1.2.
Is the camera faulty? It stays connected after initial pairing, but does not survive a restart (printer power cycle)

I'm having issues as well.
RE: CORE One L Buddy cam always reports “WiFi connection failed” after reboot
I just spent some time online with support - I sent them video of the camera always announcing “WiFi connection failed”. Re-pairing using the QR code works, so the WiFi works. But it does not survive a reboot 🙁
RE: CORE One L Buddy cam always reports “WiFi connection failed” after reboot
The same with me. Adding microSD didn't help (it was recommended in an other post). Wonder if it's my wifi/firewall restrictions or camera itself.

I had a similar issue and needed to reset the camera via the button on the side, then it seemed to connect.

I was asked to perform a Factory Reset (hold the reset for approx. 20s, the camera will announce that it is performing a Factory Reset). Unfortunately, it still does not remember the WiFi for some reason, so after every reboot the camera still reports "WiFi Connection Failed". The camera cannot be used with this issue.
Note that initial pairing using the QR works just fine, so there is no issue with either SSID, WiFi password or signal strength. I even tested this with a different WiFi.
So: this could be a hardware issue or a firmware issue; Prusa Support is still working on it.
RE:
Same issue here (Core One buddy cam), I need to re-pair using the qr code to get it online again after it has been shut down (this time because of fw update of printer).
RE: CORE One L Buddy cam always reports “WiFi connection failed” after reboot
Hey, have the same issue.
Updated my three cameras and now they forget the wifi password after each power off....
Please fix Prusa!
RE: CORE One L Buddy cam always reports “WiFi connection failed” after reboot
I had a similar issue but with a much longer password (63 chars). After I changed my password to 57 chars, it started to work (50 chars worked as well, so I tried removing one char at a time to figure out the max). In all cases, they were exclusively alphanumeric.
Yours is apparently much shorter, so I have no idea if it could be related, but maybe try changing your password to a different size ? (Not quite sure what black magic would make 31 fails but 50 or 57 chars works but…)
RE: CORE One L Buddy cam always reports “WiFi connection failed” after reboot
Hey, I fixed the issue by downgrading again to 3.1.
See this article for a HowTo: https://www.reddit.com/r/prusa3d/comments/1lproh0/update_do_not_buy_the_buddy_camera_3d_for_core/?tl=de
in short > download https://connect-ota.prusa3d.com/file/cam-3.1.0.tar
rename to cus_update_ota.tar
copy on sd card (Fat32)
camera off > insert sd > camera on > wait until done.
register camera to printer
RE: CORE One L Buddy cam always reports “WiFi connection failed” after reboot
Thank you! I will try this immediately
I wish Prusa Support would at least have acknowledged this firmware regression, and pointed me to this downgrade option…
RE: CORE One L Buddy cam always reports “WiFi connection failed” after reboot
The camera immediately auto-upgraded to 3.1.2 so no joy 😉
I wish there were a “pin” option to prevent auto-upgrades.
RE:
I had the exact same issue for about 1 hour of testing and debugging. Never found out what is the issue, but this is what i did before it got fixed:
1. updated to 3.1.2
2. Connected the camera to wi-fi
3. Rebooted the whole printer (from power cable)
4. Removed the camera from Prusa connect
5. Reconnected the printer to wi-fi
6. Added the camera again, and connected it to wi-fi
7. Rebooted the printer from power cable again.
It works now for the last 4 days, and after at least 6 reboots.
I have tested a bunch of other things before that, but that was the last steps that I remember before it worked.
Hope it helps.
