Sold my H2D....

Already own a Core One +...

I print things off all sizes....

Sold my H2d goos printer but I dislike BL as a company... I can't support a brand with such philosophy and background.

Am I making a mistake for wanting the L?

Depends on what you need it for. The reason I bought the H2D was I needed an actively heated chamber 350° hot end and a second nozzle for support material. I also don’t like Bambu the company but still like the printer. I despise Elon but I’ll probably buy another Tesla.

But Elon isn't actively stealing or inserting undetectable spyware. Lol Here in Canada, all dji drones have been banned for anything government related. Just one example.

Unanswerable question.

Consider the equivalent: "Am I making a mistake for wanting a 14mm spanner?" - it all depends on whether you have 14mm nuts to turn.

As @hyiger implies, if you already have a 3D printer then a second might be an unjustifiable luxury or a near essential, it all depends on which specific features you anticipate requiring and how hard it would be to effect them with your existing equipment.

There is one major argument for:  If your existing printer is close to maxed out and you expect to need to print twice as much then an additional printer makes complete sense - deciding which model then becomes one of picking which will most enhance your capabilities.

Cheerio,

RE: Sold my H2D....

I still have my Core One. At this exact moment it’s doing a TPU print. It’s much easier to print TPU with C1 than on the H2X. I’m also patiently waiting for the INDX to ship. The C1 will be the multi-color printer and the H2C (upgraded H2D) will be the engineering printer.

I’ve read that the upgrade from H2D to H2C isn’t for the faint-hearted, even Bambu Lab advices against it unless you’re a very competent and skilled user, which no doubt you’re, but still... Anyway, considering that the upgrade is far from cheap, it occurs to me that if you sold the H2D, like Print fandango, and then you purchased a new H2C you’d save a lot of work/trouble and it wouldn’t cost you much more than the upgrade, provided you sold the H2D for a reasonable price.

Just my five cents.

BTW I’ve heard that the people awaiting for the INDX to ship are nominated for the “Job Awards” of this year. You have 99% chances of winning, if you ask me.

Can I edit my posts   ?, Not anynmore.

Can I see the previews ?. Not anymore.

The wonders of the Prusa forums have no equal in the Internet. 😘

RE: Sold my H2D....

@Artur5 the only reason I got the upgrade for the H2D was I was tired of waiting (seemingly forever) for the INDX and needed to do a multicolor project on a deadline. Also, the cost of it didn't factor into my decision and selling stuff (for me) is more trouble than it's worth. The upgrade itself wasn't that bad.

As for the forum website, Prusa developers have already been notified and they are investigating.

So your Bambu Lab has become already a H2C ?. Good for you.

Yes, Prusa developers have been notified (years ago in fact ) about the issues. Maybe in a few years more they will address the problem once and for all. I hope to live long enough to see that, but I'm not holding my breath.

I am looking for first hand experience really.

Anybody here have used the L yet?

This forum seems very dead, only a handful of people commenting in all threads and some don't even own the L model.

What's to say about it? Besides the AC bed, it's a Core One but larger. And you really haven't said anything about what your use case is. Other than: "I print things off all sizes..." which doesn't really say anything. Do you print mostly PLA/PETG? Do you need multi-color or multi-material? Do you intend to print engineering plastics?

It's like saying: I sold my Telsa. I drive around to different places. Am I making a mistake buying an SUV?

In general, that is why I use my Qidi Max 4 over a Bambu.  No upload, and it has a heated chamber.

RE:

I don’t own a Bambu Lab printer, so excuse my ignorance, what do you mean by ’no upload’ ? Is it compulsory to send print jobs to the Cloud -or wherever- in order to use Bambu Lab machines?

Since I started 3D printing my everyday software has been Prusa Slicer. I tried Cura briefly and I hated absolutely. Awful unfriendly interface designed, no doubt, by a total sadist.

During the last months I installed also Orca Slicer and Bambu Studio, to see what they were like. Both are very similar, as expected, but I prefer Prusa Slicer interface and menus.

Nevertheless, with Orca or Bambu Studio I’m able to connect and send printing jobs to my Vorons as easily as with PS. No uploads, that I’m aware of, I don’t know if Bambu lab printers require connecting to the Cloud or something.

Bambu printers have a LAN and developer modes. When set to that, it disables the cloud. You can then send gcode directly to the printer via BambuStudio or Orca. For both local and cloud access there is Bambu Connect (similar to PrusaLink) that BL wrote after the cloud outrage from last year. It's a half-assed effort and it's intentionally hobbled to make it a PITA to use.  As a fun experiment I even got PrusaSlicer to slice and upload prints to my H2D. The major downside to using it was lack of bi-directional syncing of nozzles and filaments.

As for the slicer pedigree this is a useful chart.

RE: Sold my H2D....

Yeah, that’s how I’m using the Bambu printers. Honestly, the X2D is sorta of a Core One destroyer. Heated chamber, prints ASA, ABS, and PC without issue (no warping)… print quality is great…

I’d much rather use a Prusa, but the hard fact is that the Bambu stuff just works.   Second for the use the printers in language only mode… Someday INDX will actually ship in a Core One L, until then… H2C.

Not at all, it's quite a straightforward upgrade.

RE: Sold my H2D....

I didn't find it to be too difficult, but I have an electronics background and I've worked on an awful lot of cars in my day… Making it fundamentally straightforward for me.

initially, I did not think the instructions covered everything, but at least I was smart enough to notice when I took something apart that it probably had to go back together exactly the same way. It was helpful that I had red Loctite lying around as well as blue Loctite… Because somehow I missed that part of the instructions and the little bolt pack that came with all of that pre-applied on the exact same new bolts

otherwise totally straightforward and has been working without a hitch since I installed it. And there are at least 500 hours on that printer since the upgrade

To this date, I have not needed a heated chamber.  I have several printers with them but most do not, and I have not seen a difference in print quality.  PEEK requires a heated chamber, but you are  not printing that on an X2D.

Depends on what you are printing. If it's PLA/PETG/TPU then definitely do not need a heated chamber, in fact it will cause issues. PC, PA, ABS/ASA for example does for larger parts, but for Benchy sized stuff then no. I would agree that the majority of 3D printer users probably don't need a heated chamber. A closed chamber however is very useful with regard to filtering of VOCs and harmful gasses like styrene etc.

RE: Sold my H2D....

Yeah, I will say the Core One works better than printers like the P2S for things like PC, ABS, and ASA. That said, large objects have been a challenge in both.

The H2C and the H2D along with the X2D have just worked.
