X/Y AXIS SHIFT DURING PRINTING

Wing part (245 mm high) failed because the X/Y axes shifted miraculously during printing. See pics.

Used Prusament PETG. No excessive build-up of incorrectly printed material on infill noted.

This is the second time that the problem arises, but before these I printed two wing parts that came out OK.

After first failure I changed the nozzle, re-calibrated the printer, ran all tests.

Is this a software problem, or did the motor or belt jump out of position due to mechanical blockage?

Any ideas?

RE: X/Y AXIS SHIFT DURING PRINTING

Check that the pulleys are tight on the motors.  Ensure that one of the setscrews is firmly centered on the flat of the shaft. If not it will slowly loosen over time (1 month for me). I normally loosen both setscrews and then start tightening the one on the flat. Wiggling the pulley side to side while tightening will help ensure it is perfectly centered and will hold. Then tighten the other setscrew.

After doing this for both pulleys you will need to redo the belt tension tuning.  If the pulleys were slightly loose it will throw this off as the belts are not moving as much as they should during the vibration test.

Sometimes a layer shift along the XY diagonal can be caused by the PTFE and main cable sagging and getting caught between the print head and the X motor.

Thanks for your tips.
I checked the setscrews, all four were tight.
Umbilical is firmly attached to the guiding arm, not contact anywhere.
I think the shift was caused by material build-up, accumulating on top of (very thin) infil pattern (line type, set at 5%).
This causes audible klonking upon passing of printhead. Same behaviour for line and gyroid at 5%.
Will print same profile with same infill settings at lower total heght, to see if the problem disappears.
