Wipe tower causes layer shift

I am printing an object in PLA with two filament changes, on the Wipe tower the first filament change deposits a rather large blob (2.3 mm high),  then at the second filament change the nozzle runs over the blob during the wipe process, and this often causes a layer shift (app. 2 out of three time).

What slicer settings can I change to avoid that the nozzle runs over the blob? I am currently use the default Wipe tower settings.

Did you ever work this out? I’m having the exact same issues on my MK4S.

I’m really regretting buying their MMU3 as it’s turned a very reliable machine into something which cannot even complete prints correctly.

I don’t have solution, but my workaround is place the wipetower in front of the plate and then remove the wipe tower after each filament change, that works for me as I only need two-three color changes at the first 3-4 layers.

i don’t have an MMU for my CoreOne so the filament change is done manually, so it is easy for me to remove the wipetower in the process.

A more permanent solution would be to place the blob at different places next to the wipetower when color changes are needed in the first 3-4 layers, but this would have to be a programmatic change to the slicer that I am not capable of.

I hope someone from the Prusa team reads this and can implement a fix.

Hi Mikael,

Prusa developers rarely look here,

you would be better going to the prusa slicer Git Hub page, searching to see if a similar idea has already been raised, then either adding to that idea or proposing your own idea
