Vase Mode generating two perimeters due to gaps - how do I circumvent this?

I have a design that I want to try in vase mode that is difficult to print.

See attached picture. I need the gaps (blue), but the layerfs which have the gap in them end up producing two perimeters (red shows the direction of the nozzle). Meanwhile the parts without the gap in the layer are single perimeter.

How can I make it all one perimeter? I can change the design a bit, but in the end I need the gaps. Even without Vase Mode it still makes it have artifacts due to the gaps. I'd like to print it without supports.
Any ideas much appreciated 🙂

Hello,

I don't think that what you are trying to accomplish is possible with this mode (more correctly spiral vase mode).  This mode, to the best of my knowledge, requires a monotonically increasing surface with no interruptions as the print is extruded in a single, continuous "spiral", ramping movement with no stops.  A model with openings in the sides cannot be printed from a continuous spiral extrusion. 

Have you tried setting the perimeter count to 1 in the slicer and the top layer count to zero.  What is the requirement that leads you to want to print a single perimeter?

The main reason why I wanted it that way is, because it also does the same u-turn when printing with two perimeters. The shell needs to be as slim as possible and I found that just under 1m it is good enough for my purpose, so in that case I tried 0.8 perimeter width to avoid it doing two perimeters. Why? Because the u-turn makes very ugly blops around the cutouts. I think it would look better if print just stopped there or caused stringing instead.

In any case, I'm trying something else now. Organic supports with ironed interface top, printbed only and the gaps facing down. I'm printing in TPU (it's a protective shell).

That part is not suitable for vase mode.
