PLA Warping

Hello,

I've very often warping for PLA in the angles. I tried to lower the printing temperature (to 210C) and the bed to 45C without any success (usually I was using the default preset for prusament).

Example:

https://ibb.co/4RhRwyc1

What should I try to fix this warping ?

Thanks

Your bed temp is way too low. Try 60C for bed, 215C for nozzle.

Also deep clean the steel sheet. Scalding hot water and dish soap in the sink. Scrub it well with a microfibre cloth and dry with another microfibre.

That amount of warping you'd think it was PETG or ABS. Impressive.

with default parameters (230c for the nozzel, 60c for the bed, 25c for the enclosure it's still the same). The bed was cleaned with IPA.
I will do another try with this.

IPA is to maintain a clean sheet between prints. Dish soap and scrubbing is required to get the sheet clean in the first place.

The amount of warping you're getting is insane for PLA. Do you have another roll of PLA you can try? Provide more details on the filament you're using.

I've never seen PLA warp this much either. As others have pointed out, a higher bed temperature. Also make sure the vent is open and maybe try with the door open as well. Make sure there are no fingerprints or oils of any type on the sheet. Perhaps the filament is bad. Which brand are you using? Also, you can try a brim.

The filament is Prusament PLA Azure Blue, I've the same issue with Galaxy Black and PolyTerra PLA Lava Red

That steel sheet looks a bit 'greasy' ?

Another vote here for cleaning the bed with dish soap and warm water, and then make sure you don't touch the top at all while loading.

The geometry of the part (with straight continuous lines on each side with large holes in the end) leaves very little material at the ends to hold the part down.  I would add a brim or helper disks at the ends to keep those thin strips down.

I am experiencing similar levels of warping on the Core One with Prusament PLA. Brim helped just a little.

Did you find any fix?

Make sure the surface of the sheet is very clean (no visible finger prints) and ensure the top vent is open, perhaps try opening the door as well. You can also try a wider brim.

RE: PLA Warping

I agree that this kind of warping  looks more like ASA than PLA, Even PETG isn’t usually so bad. Are you sure the filament is dry ?. Do you notice blobs, artifacts,  huge oozing ?

What I’d do :

1- Lower nozzle temp. to 205C (unless you use a hardened steel nozzle, then 210-215c is OK ).

2- Bed temp. 65-70C. Use a wide brim. Set gap between model and brim=0 mm.

3- Don’t hesitate to apply adhesive on the plate. Usually it isn’t needed with PLA but if it helps to control warping, why not ?.

4- If you own a smooth plate, use it instead of the satin plate for printing PLA, specially if  you have warping problems. It has better adhesion.
