Hi there. I'm a beginner and I need some help.

These two parts were printed using the same printer (CORE One), the same original 0.4mm nozzle, and the same *.3mf file.

How is it possible that the second one turned out so badly? It's like the first layer was printed way too fast the second time, but I haven’t changed any settings!

Honestly, it’s really frustrating to come back after several hours and see the print like this. The worst part is that I have no idea what went wrong.

Could it be that the bed leveled incorrectly the second time during auto-leveling? Bad Good

Can anyone help me figure it out?

Thank you very much.

Most likely there was a piece of filament stuck on the nozzle when it was doing bed levelling and measured the Z level a bit off.

Typical new users don't have a full appreciation of the process and don't realise the importance of bed cleanliness and filament drying, as a result first layers stop adhering properly to the bed and steam from water boiling in the hot end messes up the internal pressures causing oozing, uneven extrusion, stringing and even some clogging.

So when a new users says "It worked fine and now it doesn't" we look there first.

@biomech is probably right.  I suspect damp filament is oozing during startup and forming a pad on the nozzle tip so that your bed levelling is thrown off.

Look up threads here about filament drying.

Cheerio,

Yes, after a lot of checking, the only thing I can think of is that maybe some filament got stuck on the nozzle, and it didn't do the probing points correctly.

Thank you!

That’s not my case. I’ve kept the printer in perfect condition, clean and fully functional since day one. It’s free of dust, and both the bed and nozzle are thoroughly cleaned before every print. I haven’t had any issues apart from this one.

It’s possible that between one print and the next, a bit of dry filament remained on the nozzle tip, which could have resulted in a poor first layer.

Thanks!

Have you tried another print to see if this was the case?
After a print the Core one retracts and ejects any filament left in the nozzle, meaning bed probing usually always takes place with an empty nozzle in the first instance.....
