.8 Nozzle Issue
I purchased a .8 nozzle to help speed printing of board game inserts and trays. When I tried .55 structural profile, the prints failed every time. Choosing a .4 layer height seems to have fixed the failing issue. Am I missing something on the .55? It's not that big of a deal. Using .4 only adds minimal to each print. I'm still printing faster. Just wanted to understand. Thanks for the help!
RE: .8 Nozzle Issue
Do you have any chamfer on the bottom part of your print?
I can see 2 things on your picture:
- It seems that with the elephant foot compensation the chamfer couldn't print properly (you can change that setting in "advance" and "elephant foot compensation", try 0,1 instead of 0,2)
- your flow need calibration, your second layer seems much ove-rextruded that can lead to crash and layer shift
RE: .8 Nozzle Issue
Maybe the flow rate of hotend is not enough? Try to increase nozzle temperature (by 10°C or maybe more).
And one tip. You can speed up print not just by bigger layer heights, but also by wider extrusions. Especially when you have a lot of solid layers, increase solid infill width. Or you can use less number of wider perimeters. You can go up to 200% of nozzle width just fine (bit less, like 1.2mm with 0.8mm nozzle, will still look perfect). But with these adjustments you may also hit speed limit of maximum volumetric flow rate, especially with bigger nozzles like 0.8mm.
RE: .8 Nozzle Issue
Appreciate the replys a tips. I found my issue. I made a novice mistake. I loaded the configuration for the .8HF instead of the standard .8. It's printing at .55 very well now. Details matter. Thank you all for the help!
