When are the chamber fans supposed to cut on?

I've never seen the fans turn on on their own when set to "Auto". They do work, I can set them manually and they turn on. The fan tests pass. The chamber thermistor is returning the correct temperature (or close enough). I've been printing PACF and PCCF. To answer my own question, I guess they won't turn on unless the chamber temperature goes above the nominal setting?

RE: When are the chamber fans supposed to cut on?

Hi,

yes, I am actually printing PLA all the time with a nominal temperature of 20°C (default in the PLA profiles) and the chamber fans are almost constantly on (up to the "Chamber Fans Limit"), since the chamber temperature (even with open door and everything) reach ~30° and more.

You can actually go into Control->Temperature->Chamber Temperature and set the nominal temperature to a lower one during the print to test it (the current temperature and the nominal target temperature should be shown in the footer of the status screen).

RE: When are the chamber fans supposed to cut on?

Hi,

I was experimenting with ASA earlier tonight (1st time on the new Core One +) and it took > 40 minutes to get to the nominal 55°C but the fans didn't trigger until 57°. They didn't stay on very long (< 10 secs), temp dropped about 1° and then cycled similarly every 4 mins or so.

My room temp was 28°C (locally is still summer), Core One top vent and door were shut.  I would guess that at lower room temps it would struggle get to the 55°C.

I was hoping for more venting durations as I am piping the exhaust outside to get rid of any plastic nasties (smell/vapours). If I turned the fans on manually at minimum speed it dropped the temp below what I wanted for the ASA printing.

Yes the ASA printed without layer separation so it works for me 😊

Would be interested to hear of anyone else's observations.
