Ticking sound linear rail

Hello everyone,

Since my last print which failed (bad adhesion fault on my part), the linear rail has started making a ticking noise, which sounds like the ball bearings moving inside. The frequency is pretty consistent with distance moved. It can be on my part but I don't think the sound was here before. Is something to worry about? I didn't test a new print yet, but everything still seems to move normally.

Looking forward to your replies.

RE: Ticking sound linear rail

Another thread is discussing this. The ticking every few millimeters of movement is likely the recirculating ball bearings, a dab of grease on the rail either side of the extruder and run the bearing across it a few times, then wipe the excess off, and the ticking should be less noticeable. And by dab, I mean not too much. This is a place a little goes a long ways. In the other thread I linked to similar bearings and those datasheets explain the grease requirements.
