The bed stops 5 times before reaching the nextruder to start printing.

Hi, I'm having a problem with the Core One doing all the calibrations correctly, but when it's about to start printing, the bed stops as if it were touching the nozzle. However, it only goes up about 7 cm, then goes up again and does the same thing, up to 4 times. Sometimes it starts printing, and other times it says there's a collision and starts checking. It can't go all the way up to the NextRuder. However, when you do the homing, it does it perfectly. Any ideas what it could be? I've already restored to factory settings several times with the same result.

Does it also sound quite harsh? Maybe the rods and spindles are misaligned causing additional resistance.

Try the following:

  • Loosen the screws that hold the trapezoidal nuts by one turn
  • Loosen the screws that hold the front left and right bearing mounts by one turn
  • Move the bed to it's lowest position by running the Z axis test from the menu
  • Move the bed up and down for 10mm a few times, while gradually tightening the screws of the bearing mounts until secure.
  • Position the spindles at the top so that they sit in the middle of their guide. You can wrap something around the spindle and inside the guide so that it's held in that position.
  • Gradually tighten all screws that hold the trapezoidal nuts.
  • Apply grease to the spindles.
  • Move all the way up and down a few times and check if the motion is silent and smooth.
  • Run homing again.

Thanks, but it still crashes, any other suggestions?

Then it's probably the loadcell reading random values due to the heater and mechanical straining somewhere, like the nozzle thumbscrews being too tight, the hotend cable pulling on the nozzle, the nozzle being too strongly pushed in before tightening the thumbscrews etc.

When doing the "Auto Home" from the menu, I guess your printer isn't heating the nozzle?

Thank you very much, I changed the Nextruder Hotend and it works fine now. Regards

It's still the same, after 1 print, it comes back with the same error.

RE: The bed stops 5 times before reaching the nextruder to start printing.

I have the same problem, worked once out of the box and after one print it started failing to home Z while the nozzle was hot.

I have a second Core One and both load cells appears to deviate 300 to 400 of whatever units its using when heating.  Only the new one is unable to home with a hot extruder though.  Based on that I don't think the load cell is getting torqued on my system.

Moving to the electrical side I tested to see if it worked with the temp at 200C but the heater core turned off.  The result is that as long as the heater is not actively firing at the very second its using the load cell, everything works fine.  So I'm going to try putting some space between the heater and the load cell wiring and see what happens.  You can replicate the my test by heating the extruder to 220 manually and then hitting cool down, Run the home axis fast and see what happens before your temp drops.

Am I missing anything? I have the factory assembled version of this printer so i don't know exactly how they are constructed.
