Sleep mode?
I'm curious if there is a sleep mode for the CORE One.
I'd like to leave the printer powered on, but have it turn off the screen and enclosure LEDs after a selectable amount of idle time. This way, the printer is still online, but dark - quite nice when your hobby room door is open across from your bedroom (where that door also needs to stay open for the cats).
RE: Sleep mode?
It's been requested and has an internal ticket per their github. Hopefully they add it.
RE: Sleep mode?
Thanks! It doesn't even need to actually go into a low-power mode. Just turn off the illumination and screen 😉
RE: Sleep mode?
If it is right across the room, what would be the use case for leaving it powered on? With a device that is essentially two heaters plus some motors, I would always prefer to power it off when I leave it unattended, to guard against -- very unlikely but potentially very damaging -- malfunctions.
(Do your cats know how to operate the touch screen and start pre-heating? 😉)
RE: Sleep mode?
Well, the main power switch is around the back, and where I have the printer located, it's not so easy to reach around.
On my old 3D printer with Octoprint, I had a plug-in Wi-Fi switch that could be turned off remotely, and especially automatically after the end of a print. Maybe there's something similar with the Prusa offerings, and I just haven't found it yet.
RE: Sleep mode?
Just plug the power cable into a smart plug for Alexa, Home assistant, Siri, etc, that goes into your wall outlet. All I have to do is say "Alexa, turn the Prusa Red off" (my printers are color coded) or my phone app and voila.

Don't!. 😯
The main reason I got the core one is due to my mischievous cats, one who likes to play with filament and anything that moves and one who insists on rubbing against the cables and leaving dander all over the printers greased rods and screws and anywhere you really don't want fur!, it has basically meant my Mk3 has not been able to be used for a few years now without hawk like observation by myself.
Normal people believe that if it is not broke, do not fix it. Engineers believe that if it is not broke, it does not have enough features yet.
RE:
I'd prefer to leave it powered on, but idle. Turn off all chamber LEDs and maybe leave the control screen on at a very dim level, if at all.
But I see your point about the Wi-Fi plug. It would be nice for it to turn off say, five minutes after the print is complete and the bed LEDs go green.
Anyway, I'm glad there's a GitHub request. I have one of the GPIO boards on order, too. Maybe I can twiddle a bit to trigger a HomeKit automation.
RE: Sleep mode?
Sounds like it needs a homeassistant addon which could remotely turn the power on to a socket and once the printer has finished printing and cooled down then if turnoff enabled when complete is selected, then turn a socket or whatever off. Actually reporting temperatures and status etc to homeassistant would be great to make your own automations.

OMG there is one already 🙂

Fingerbot modification to control the vent coming up.
Needs enclosure temperature and enclosure temperature setpoint adding.

RE: Sleep mode?
That's cool! I'll need to set up/get a HomeAssistant server first. It's something I've wanted to try, so maybe this is a good opportunity.
My original request stands, though.
RE: Sleep mode?
I have all my printers on Smart plugs. I can control them from my phone.
If you get a smart plug with energy monitoring you can set up a routine that when the power drops below a certain number of watts you can have it power off after x number of minutes.
The printer takes less than a minute to power on and reconnect to wifi after powering back on, so your not really gaining anything by leaving it on if your not planning to print anything.
