problems Implementing filtration system utilizing fan 3 of the buddy expansion board
When connecting any 24 volt fan to the fan 3 connector of the buddy extension board, I get a puppy error.
If I hook up a buck convertor to the 24 volt pins to support a 12v fan, I get a puppy error.
If I hook up a buck convertor directly to the 24v power supply to supply a 12 volt fan and use the fan control pins for fan 3, the fan spins very slowly (~200rpm) at all times when the printer is on. When selecting the adv fan setting to auto and conducting a fan test it spins up but fails the test. And when the test is done the fan returns to the slow rotation noted above. If I disconnect the speed control pins and only hook the 12 fan through the buck convertor the fan runs a full speed (as expected).
However when I have the filtration fan settings set to DIY and do a fan test, the fan operates as expected and passes the fan test, but when the fan test is complete the fan returns to steady state slow speed rotation,
Am I missing some setting that would prevent the fan from running unless needed.?
RE: problems Implementing filtration system utilizing fan 3 of the buddy expansion board
Now that I've read more on the topic I see that my first post in this topic was a little off.
I have a 12 volt blower powered through a buck convertor getting its power from the printers power supply. I haven't been able to connect anything 24 volts to the power leads (pins 1 & 2) leads on fan connector 3 without getting a puppy error. Pins 3 and 4 from the fan 3 connector are connected to the fan.
I can control the speed of the filtration fan connected for the fan 3 connector from the tune menu and from gcode. What I can't do is pass the RPM test for the fan. The fan does run pretty fast at 100% but I haven't measured its maximum speed and have no idea what the RPM tests min speed requirement would be for this fan since its not listed anywhere I can find. And I can't get the fan to stop spinning when its off. I'm starting to think I have a problem with buddy extension board for fan 3.
Do any of you salty types know how I could test the fan 3 channel speed detection short of replacing the extension board.
